"Not ANOTHER stupid remake! How many remakes is Nintendo going to have?" Well, hold off. Zero Mission is, yes, a remake of the very first original Metroid. However, it has been SERIOUSLY upgraded. The graphics are GBA capable, there are new upgrades, new abilities, and then they added a whole extra hour to the game by adding a HUGE area, bigger than any of the ones from the original. And yes, you even get to play the original when you beat this game. If you never played the first Metroid, then pick this up NOW. If you played the first Metroid, then pick this up NOW. It is one of the greatest GBA games, and easily in the top three Metroid games. So yeah, enough about the game... My name is Colin Scully, but I go by the screen name "me frog". I've written for many popular games that involve Nintendo systems, and this is my twenty-first guide for GameFAQs, and my first Metroid guide. I love the Metroid series, and have now played every single game that is in the series. I find it to be one of the greatest game series created, right up there with the Final Fantasy games and Mario games. So, enough chat, let's go on to the next section! ===================--------------------====================------------------- | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | | |%%%%% Game Basics %%%%%| | | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | -------------------====================--------------------=================== ~~~~~~ Health ~~~~~~ You start the game off with 99 HP, which can be viewed in the upper-left corner of the screen. Whenever you collect an Energy Tank (12 total), your health will increase by 100. You can end up with 1299 health if you collect all energy tanks. If you take damage from an enemy, you'll lose health. Once you lose all health, Samus will lose her power suit and the game will end. You can, however, restore health by collecting small purple energy spheres. ~~~~~~~~~~ Ammunition ~~~~~~~~~~ Missiles, Super Missiles, and Power Bombs aren't infinite in their supply; you start out with a very small amount, but you can collect tanks (Missile Tanks, Super Missile Tanks, or Power Bomb Tanks) to increase your supply. You can get up to 250 missiles, or fifty tanks. You can get 30 Super Missiles, or fifteen tanks. And you can get 18 Power Bombs, or nine tanks. You can restore your ammo by defeating enemies and collecting the small missiles or bombs they leave behind. ~~~~~~~~~ Bomb Jump ~~~~~~~~~ This isn't described at all in the game, but you get it once you earn the bombs. If you lay a bomb down and remain on top of it, you'll do a slight hop when it explodes. If you lay down bombs rapidly, you'll end up doing double and sometimes triple bomb jumps, which can be used to access new areas. After you earn the Jumpball, however, the bomb jump becomes somewhat useless. ~~~~~~~~ Jumpball ~~~~~~~~ Another ability that isn't really explained, except for a tiny mention. Once you earn the Hi-Jump, you'll also get the Jumpball, which allows you to jump high into the air with the Morph Ball. It gets you a little higher than a double bomb jump would, make it VERY useful. ~~~~~ Doors ~~~~~ There are five different types of doors in the game. The BLUE DOORS are the most common, and it takes a simple blast from any beam to destroy it. The RED DOORS are somewhat rare, but you'll find them scattered about Zebes. They require a shot from a missile to open. The GREEN DOORS are very rare, and you'll probably see less than fifteen of them in the game. They require on Super Missile. The YELLOW DOORS are EXTREMELY rare, and you'll see probably three or four in the whole game. You can open yellow doors only with a Power Bomb. The WHITE DOORS are locked until you defeat all enemies in one room. Once all enemies are gone, a simple beam blast will open a white door. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Speed Charge ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yet another ability that the game refuses to show you, the Speed Charge is needed to solve nearly two-thirds of the puzzles in the later part of the game. You must have the Speed Booster, and it must have been activated. As you're running, press down. You'll now hold the power of the Speed Booster for a brief period of time. You can run and jump during this time, but if you wait too long then the power will fail. While you're still flashing, press A and then you can shoot west, northwest, north, northeast, or east depending on how you hold the control stick. ~~~~~~~~~ Wall Kick ~~~~~~~~~ This is available from the start, but the game doesn't mention it. You really don't need this anyway, unless you want to try to reach tanks that you are supposed to reach MUCH later. Even then, then tanks are still hard to reach. To do the Wall Kick, jump towards a wall and press A and push the control stick in the opposite direction. If another wall is close by, you can press A again and push the control stick once more. You can do this as many times as you wish as long as the walls are close enough together. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Map System ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Another feature added in that wasn't in the original Metroid, you'll find yourself using the game map a LOT more then you think you will. It is VERY useful, since you can determine where you area and how many rooms you need to head through to get to a specific location. When you first enter an area, only rooms you've visited will be recorded into your map data. However, there's a Map Room in every area, and that will download the whole map, except for hidden areas. BLUE AREAS on the map are areas that you've already visited and areas that are part of the main path. GREEN AREAS are hidden areas that don't appear on the map when you download them. Heading to a green area can reveal a whole lot more to a map. RED AREAS are heat rooms. If you don't have the Varia Suit, you'll start to lose health rapidly in these rooms due to the heat. GRAY AREAS only appear if you've downloaded a map, and they're an area that you haven't visited. CIRCLES in a room show that there is an upgrade somewhere in that room. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chozo Statues ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Chozos were the ones who raised Samus, and the statues play a big role in the game. When you find one, you'll either see a glowing hand or an egg. Shoot the egg and you'll collect and upgrade. If you see just a glowing hand, then the statue will tell you where to go next. To recharge your energy/see your next location, jump into the hand and curl up into a ball. ===================--------------------====================------------------- | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | | |%%%%% Controls %%%%%| CO01 | | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | -------------------====================--------------------=================== Control Pad - Used to control Samus or her beam. Pressing left or right will take you in the direction pressed. Pressing up will cause Samus to aim her beam near the ceiling. Pressing down will make her crouch, and double-tapping down will make her curl into a ball. Pressing up+left makes Samus aim northwest, while pressing up+right makes her aim northeast. A Button - Press this once to jump up in the air. You can jump higher once you have the Hi-Jump acquired. B Button - Fire beam or lay down bombs (in Morph Ball form). L Button - Aim diagonally left or right (depending on where you point the control stick). R Button - Arm yourself with Missiles or Power Bombs (in Morph ball form) Select - Arm yourself with Super Missiles Start - Pause the game and bring up the map screen ===================--------------------====================------------------- | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | | |%%%%% Walkthrough %%%%%| WT01 | | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | -------------------====================--------------------=================== This FAQ contains no spoilers whatsoever, except for the bosses. I won't describe any of the cinema scenes except for one, where I'll describe a very minor part. This part of the guide covers EVERYTHING, and if you follow this walkthrough from the beginning to the end, you should have all upgrades by the end of the game. If I'm about to describe a difficult, optional task, I'll tell you. However, if there is a very easy way to get an upgrade, I won't tell you in advance, because there's no reason for you to skip an upgrade! DIFFICULTY LEVELS: Easy - Mainly found near the start of the game, EASY bosses have low HP, as well as few attacks Moderate - The vast majority of Zero Mission's bosses are rated as MODERATE. These bosses have decent HP, as well as quite a few attacks. They may not be super-powerful, but they're difficult nonetheless. Hard - Rarely will you see a HARD boss in the game. These bosses have high HP, a vast variety of attacks, and the deal great amounts of damage. These bosses might take you a couple of tries to beat. PLEASE NOTE THAT DIFFICULTIES OF BOSSES VARY DEPENDING ON THE DIFFICULTY LEVEL YOU'RE PLAYING THE GAME AT. ALL BOSSES WERE RATED WHILE PLAYING "NORMAL" DIFFICULTY. So, without further ado, here's the walkthrough for Metroid: Zero Mission! +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Brinstar | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ After your ship lands, read what Samus has to say. Go left here, jumping over the obstacle, and defeating the enemies, until you see a red circle. Grab it to accquire the MORPH BALL. Double-tap the control stick down to take ball form and gain access to narrow passageways. ~~~MORPH BALL ACQUIRED!~~~ Now head back right, and roll under the obstacle using your new morph ball. Continue right for a while, crouching and shooting the enemies with your beam. At the end is a blue door; shoot it with your beam to open it. In this next room, you can shoot through the blocks, you or can roll under them. In the next room go right and don't stop; the enemies will drop down onto you. If you stand near them when they drop down, they'll explode and damage you, so be careful! Roll under this area using the morph ball, and then head forward once you're on the other side. You'll see a statue with an outstretched hand. This is a Chozo Statue, and you'll find them throughout various places in the game. Jump into the hand and transform into a ball. It will glow and your destination will be set. You must go up a vertical room and west to another statue. After you're told where to go, your energy will recharge and the statue will lower. Head right, and go into the next room. Open the door directly across from you to find a Save Room; these are scattered throughout Zebes, and you'll want to use every one you come to! Stand on the small platform and save your game (sorry, your energy isn't replenished here), then head back out into the long, vertical room. Jump up all the platforms here, and ignore the shell enemy, since you won't be able to kill those guys until _MUCH_ later in the game. Continue to jump across all the platforms, and eventually you'll pass a door on your right that's blocked by stones. Ignore it for now and continue upward. After you pass your third shelled enemy, you'll spot a door on your left; open this door and rush past the enemy on the ceiling. You'll find a ball passage blocked by some stones. Crouch down (press down the control pad) and fire a few shots to get rid of the stones. Now roll through and head left, rushing past the enemies. In the next room, you'll find another Chozo Statue holding a Chozo Egg. Shoot the egg and grab the item, which is the LONG BEAM. Fire long-distance shots with this beam. Press L+B to fire diagonally. ~~~LONG BEAM ACQUIRED!~~~ Head back out of this room. You can now defeat the ceiling enemies with a single shot, so kill them if you wish and then jump up onto the small ledge when you reach it. A bunch of stones are blocking your way, but with your new Long Beam, you can destroy them all. So do so and then jump up into the next room. Here, break all the stones and then jump up and defeat the enemies. Head left into the next area, and continue heading left for a while. Jump up onto the platform when you see it and then you should notice a platform on some acid. Making sure not to fall in the acid, jump onto the platform. Head left, jumping across another acid pool, and then go through the door and into the next room. Head left a little and you'll notice a statue of an eagle. Run up to it, and then exit. Yeah, there was a point to doing that, by the way. Now go all the way right, past the acid and past the gap in the floor. You'll come to another acid pool. Head across and roll through the small tunnel, then continue right. Be careful here, a big enemy will drop down. Start shooting it and when you kill it, you will be able to open the door. Go through to find a Chozo Statue. Jump into its arm and you'll be directed deep into Brinstar. After your energy is charged, head into the next room, which is a vertical room, the one you were in before you got the Long Beam. Drop down a bit until you find the door blocked by a bunch of stones (on your right). Shoot through all the stones, which is now possible thanks to the Long Beam. Enter the room and go across the hallway to this next room. Drop down when you enter and roll through the tunnel, then enter the room, which is a Save Room. Save, for you're about to fight your first boss. Now exit and return to the vertical room. Drop down all the ledges until you're at the bottom, then go through the door on your right. Head across, and ignore the crumbling sounds for now. Jump over an acid pit (avoiding the enemies rising from it) and then carefully make your way over to the MISSILE TANK. Press R+B to fire. Opens red hatches. ~~~MISSILES ACQUIRED!~~~ Now head back left, and to the crumbling part of the room. The Earthworm will appear. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BOSS: Earthworm ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Difficulty: Very Easy Requirements: Missiles Your first boss is simple, but if you don't defeat it in a certain amount of time, it'll retreat and you'll have to fight it again later. None the less, it's still the same pattern no matter where you fight it. Avoid it's body and stand in between the two spots where it burrowed. It'll appear and open its eye. Quickly shoot a missile up at the eye to damage it. Now it'll charge at you wherever you're standing. Move out of the way, and when it moves back up to the ceiling, get under it and shoot a second missile. Do this once more and it'll be defeated. ******************************************************************************* Once the Earthworm is gone, it'll drop a power up. Grab it and you'll get the CHARGE BEAM. Hold B to charge. Release to fire. Charge Attack: Jump with a full charge. ~~~CHARGE BEAM ACQUIRED!~~~ Head back left, out of this room, and then jump up to the platforms and head back into the Save Room. Save your game and then roll through the tunnel in front of you. Jump up a couple ledges and you'll spot a red door on your right. With your newly acquired missiles, you can now open these doors. So shoot it with a missile and head through. In this next room, quickly head across, avoiding the pesty flying enemies and the acid. Open the door at the end and then head across the small room. In the next big room, jump on the first platform you see. Now jump to the left, and you'll land on a small ledge near the wall. There's a passage behind this wall so head west, through the passage, and you'll spot some flying enemies and a strange parasite. Blast the parasite with a couple of missiles to destroy it, then grab the MISSILE TANK (10). Return to the large room and head left, taking the top path. You'll have to destroy a couple of parasites while jumping across some gaps. If you run out of missiles, use your charge beam to destroy the parasites. At the end, drop down and open the door. Shooting the strange stone here reveals that you need bombs to blast it, which we don't have just yet. In the next room, crouch all the way down and break the two lower blocks to reveal a MISSILE TANK (15). Blast the rest of the blocks and head on through. Avoid the enemies, and jump across some platforms and over some acid, and you'll spot your first of twelve energy tanks. Grab this ENERGY TANK and then continue right, jumping over some more platforms. You'll have to break some more blocks/stones here too. After jumping over all the platforms, you'll end up at a door. Head through and you'll come to another vertical room. Drop down and use a missile to open the door. Run up to the machine and download the MAP OF BRINSTAR. ~~~MAP OF BRINSTAR ACQUIRED!~~~ According to the map, you're pretty close to your destination. Exit the room and jump up all of the ledges in this room until you encounter a ledge that's too high for you. Head through the door on your left now to enter another vertical, but smaller, room. Open the door directly across and head through to get to a Save Room. Save your game and head back out. Jump up the few platforms here, defeating the enemies, and head through the door. Jump up to the top of this area and roll through the small tunnel. On the other side, blast open the door with a missile and go on through. Here, you'll find another Chozo Egg. Break it and open it to get the BOMBS. Press B in Morph Ball form to set. ~~~BOMBS ACQUIRED!~~~ Recharge your energy and you should notice a metal block with a red circle on it. This is a Bomb Block, and you have to use your new bombs to destroy them. So roll into the little tunnel and destroy the blocks, then continue left. Destroy the block and then lay a bomb down and stay still. The bomb should detonate and cause Samus to do a small jump. This is a Morph Ball Jump, and you'll be using them a lot. So jump up to the next little platform and destroy the next block. Jump up to the MISSILE TANK (20) here. Now exit the Chozo Statue room and head through the tunnel here. The door is locked. Drop down below and blow up the blocks here to make a bunch of leeches appear. They'll latch onto you and start to slowly suck your energy. Curl into a ball and lay a couple of bombs down and you should destroy them all. The door should unlock, so blast it and head through. In this room, head to the Save Room again if you wish. Otherwise, drop down and head through the door on your right. Back in the vertical chamber, drop down a few ledges and enter the first room that you see on your left. Head left through this long, horizontal chamber, avoiding/defeating the enemies and crossing the gaps of acid. Head through the door once you reach the other side. In this next room, curl into a ball and lay some bombs down to destroy them. Drop through the hole you just made. Head down to the bottom of this room, avoiding/defeating the enemies. Head through the door on your left. A bunch of flying enemies will charge toward you the moment you head through. Defeat them with blasts/missiles, and then head across the room. Open the door with a missile and go through it. The next room has a Chozo Statue. It'll tell you to go to Norfair, which is another area on Zebes, and isn't that far from where we are now. Backtrack two rooms, and jump up the platforms. At the top, bomb the blocks and some leeches will jump onto you. Destroy them with bombs and then head through the left door. Jump up the platforms here and then head left for a while, into the next room. In this small bridge area, bomb the floor to reveal a hidden room. There are a bunch of stone blocks here. Drop down a little to find a missile tank that's being protected by a single stone block. This part is a little tricky if it's your first time through the game. Stand on the stone blocks opposite it, and then go into ball form. Lay a bomb down and then do a bomb jump. As you do the jump, press the control stick right, and quickly lay a bomb as you reach the long block. When it blows up, make your way to the top of the little platform that the missile tank is trapped in. Roll off the left side in ball form and as you fall, hold right to make it to the MISSILE TANK (25). Be careful, because the lone block eventually reappears again, causing you to re-do the puzzle (that's what makes this so tricky). Get back to the main path by jumping on and shooting through the blocks. Once you're on the main path again (you'll know, because you'll be in a blue square on the map), head through the left door. Jump across all the acid here and into the next vertical room. Instead of going south, to Nofair, we're taking a little detour to reach a missile tank, so if you don't want it, then skip the following set of instructions. Jump up onto the platforms and head up to the top of the vertical room. When you can go no farther, go right and head through the door. Head right, and defeat the two enemies, then roll under the pipe. Jump over the acid and shoot the next pipe to make it rise a little. Roll under it. Head up against the wall and bomb the cracked parts. Bomb jump to the top pipe here, and roll through, but be careful of the enemy inside. When you cross the pipe, drop down to the floating platform, being carefuly not to fall in the acid or you'll lose a lot of health. Head right, through the door, and then defeat the enemy bouncing around this next room. Head through the door and you'll find yourself in a Save Room. After saving your game, go through the door on your right. Here, simply head right, over the pipe, across the acid, and grab the MISSILE TANK (30). DO NOT try to get into the pipe that's all the way to the right, and DO NOT bomb the floor in the acid in an attempt to bomb jump up to the pipe. Doing so will just cause you to drop into an acid pool, and you'll have pretty much no chance of survival if you fall in. Just backtrack through the Save Room and into the vertical chamber you were before, and drop down all the way to the bottom. Head through the door. Recognize this place? Go right all the way, jumping over the pool of acid, and jump into the little alcove with the suspicious-looking stones. Bomb them and all of them will be destroyed. Now just continue right, going across all the platforms. At the end, open the door and take the elevator down to Norfair. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Norfair | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ When you arrive at Norfair, drop down to the left side and bomb it to drop safely down, past the enemies. If you wish to save, then head right into the Save Room. Otherwise, go through the door on your left. Go across the pipes with enemies and carefully jump across the tiny platforms over the acid. About halfway through this room, you'll spot a missile tank on a ledge that's beyond jumping height. We're not supposed to get this missile tank now, but it's easy to get, so why not? Curl into a ball and get on the left or right side of the high block. Lay down a bunch of bombs (don't stop laying them down, even when you're in the air) and you'll eventually do a double bomb jump. At the peak of your double jump, head onto the platform with the MISSILE TANK (35). Continue left and defeat the two flying enemies, then roll through the hidden tunnel and blow up the stone blocking your way at the end. Continue to jump/roll until you get to the other side of the cramped area. Head left, defeating the enemies, and go into the next room. Jump up onto the platforms here, and then take the elevator up to Crateria. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Crateria | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ In Crateria, head right and blow up the wall. Ignore the metal blocks at the bottom, since those types of blocks can't be broken until you're in what's like the last twenty or so minutes of the game :) Continue right, into an area with a bunch of brown platforms and a small lake. Jump into that lake and blow up the block that's out of place on the left side. Continue left, blowing up sections of the wall, until you get to an area with a single Skeleton Shark. Destroy it and bomb the left wall and you'll reveal a MISSILE TANK (40). Now exit the hidden area and then exit the lake altogether. Jump up onto the platforms here, and you'll come to a platform with a wall blocking the way. Bomb this wall and continue left. Roll into the little tunnel and then jump up to enter the Chozo Ruins section of Crateria. Roll into a ball and jump/roll to a dead end. When you lay down a bomb to destroy the strange block, you'll find it can't be destroyed, and you'll blow up the floor below you instead. Roll through the small tunnel and head through the door. Here, go right all the way, past the strange blocks, to find a Chozo Statue and Egg. Destroy the egg and grab the UNKNOWN ITEM. Analysis inconclusive. Item incompatible with current suit. ~~~UNKNOWN ITEM ACQUIRED!~~~ This will become something very useful later, but for now, all it does is allow you to destroy those strange blocks, granting access to new areas. Recharge with the Chozo Statue if needed, then head back left. Destroy all the blocks, and bomb the block that's stopping you from reaching the tank. Drop down and collect your ninth MISSILE TANK (45). Back in the main part of the Chozo Ruins, return to the strange block that was unbreakable earlier. Destroy it and you'll find yourself in a huge, wide open area. Head left and jump up the platforms, and you'll spot an eagle's mouth that's open. Jump into the mouth and open the door that's half-visible there. When you start forward in this next room, you'll fall through the floor automatically. After a long fall, head to the left side and shot your beam at the part of the wall that's two blocks above from the ground. Now blast the blocks here and exit morph ball form, then jump up and destroy a few more blocks. After some more bombing/rolling, you'll enter a room with a freaky looking statue dude holding an item. Grab it to get the POWER GRIP. Grab and hang from ledges and corners. ~~~POWER GRIP ACQUIRED!~~~ Exit the room and you'll find a large pillar rising from the ground (the sudden noise scared the crap out of me the first time through). Jump up the platforms that appear using your new Power Grip, and jump to the left side of the area and head through the door. Here, head out of the eagle's mouth and jump on the platforms, destroying the blocks with beam shots. Drop down a bit when you reach the end and head through the door. Here, take a wild leap and you'll fall a LONG while before landing. Samus's ship is here, so locate it and enter to recharge energy/missiles and save your game. Now head right all the way and you'll be led to a door. Go through and then make your way right, through this room by rolling/bombing. In the next room, you'll spot an elevator, the one you took to enter Crateria. Take the elevator back to Norfair. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Norfair | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ Drop down here, and then jump and grab onto the ledge on your left. Roll through the tiny tunnel and drop down. Defeat the enemies and enter the next room. Here, simply make your way across the room, avoiding all the enemies and making sure not to fall in the acid. Once you reach the end, grab the MISSILE TANK (50) and backtrack to the start of the room. Exit and then return to the door that you ignored earlier. Head right here, and then roll/bomb your way through the cramped area. Continue heading right, past the area that held the missile tank (for those of you who didn't get it, you can reach it now using the Power Grip). Continue left, past all the enemies and acid, until you reach the area with the elevator that takes you to Brinstar. Don't head into the elevator; continue right, and you'll enter the Save Room. Save your game and go right some more, and you'll enter a very large room with a bunch of acid below. Head forward and jump up the platforms, and then jump back down again. Continue heading across the room, jumping up/down the platforms, passing the area with the missile tank above you, until you get to the other side of the room. Go through the door and jump up the platforms in the vertical room. Whnen you spot a door on the left side, go through. This is an EXTREMELY dangerous room, but you have to cross it. The platforms are only a single floating block, and there's very few platforms in the area. If you fall in the acid, quickly head to the nearest platform, because your health will start to SERIOUSLY decrease (more than it usually would if you fell in acid). Carefully make your way across, using the Power Grip. On the other side, head through the door to find a Chozo Statue and a Chozo Egg. Destroy the egg and grab the ICE BEAM. This beam can freeze enemies in place. You can safely stand on frozen enemies. ~~~ICE BEAM ACQUIRED!~~~ Now recharge using the Chozo Statue (you'll probably need it, because I bet most of you fell in the acid at least once). Now, the door you came through is green, and it'll be a while before we can open green doors. So instead of going the way we came, roll through the small tunnel here and bomb the wall to create a passage to the next room. The enemy moving back and forth can be frozen with a single shot, so shoot it and then jump on it. Jump to the area on your left and head through the door. Your in a strange area with a bunch of bubbles for walls. Head left into the room directly across from you. This is a Save Room, so save your game and then go back to the previous room. Here, jump onto the platform. You have to freeze three enemies and use them as platforms to reach the next room. As you might have guessed, you won't want to freeze the second enemy directly above the first one, because then you won't be able to jump to it. Instead, shoot diagonally at the enemies and jump onto them. Make sure the third enemy isn't too far away from the door, or you'll have to drop back down and freeze the enemies all over again. In the next room, wait for a few seconds and a crab-like creature will jump out of the water. Freeze it with the Ice Beam and use it as a platform to cross the acid. Do this once more and you'll reach a Chozo Statue. Roll into it and you'll be directed to Kraid (remember him?) and his lair. It's a long ways away, unfortunately :( After your weapons and energy are restored, continue right and you'll be forced to freeze another three enemies in a row. Freeze the first one, jump on, and wait for the second one to reach about the same height as the first and freeze it. Do the same for the third and then enter the next room. Here, drop down and freeze both shelled enemies, and quickly head up to the top part of the floating pillar and use them to cross the gap. When you get to the other side, shoot the wall above the shelled enemy. One part of the wall is hollow, and will break and reveal a missile tank once you shoot it. Drop down, freeze the shelled enemy, and then use it to reach the MISSILE TANK (55). Now head right a little more and you'll find a door. Head on through and drop down in this next room. Rush to the right and the floor will crumble, sending you down below. Now head all the way down this vertical chamber and head through the door. You're back in the huge, acid-filled area. Go left a little bit, and you'll pass under an enemy that keeps trying to jump out of the acid. Let's help him a little, shall we? Bomb the floor so the enemy can jump all the way up. When it's at the peak of its jump, freeze it. Jump on it, then jump to the ledge above and grab the MISSILE TANK (60) resting here. Now head left, up and down up and down, into the Save Room. Save and enter the next room, and go up. Freeze the enemies to get to the elevator, and take it up to Brinstar. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Brinstar | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ Back in Brinstar, exit the elevator area. Run, jump, roll, and bomb your way through this long, long chamber, taking care to avoid the enemies and acid. At the end, head through the door to reach the vertical room. Climb up a bunch of platforms here, defeating the enemies, and enter the first room on your right, which is the Save Room. Save your game and return to the vertical room. Go all the way up to the very top, where the two shelled enemies move back and forth. Freeze them and use them as platforms to reach the ledge on your left, at the very, very top of the vertical room. Enter the next area and head straight down and grab the MISSILE TANK (65) in plain sight. Bomb the floor below the tank and head down and left into another long, vertical area. Head down for a while until you get to a rectangular ledge sticking out of the left wall and a shelled enemy near it. Freeze the shelled enemy and use it to reach the ledge. Bomb the stone here and drop down, then head into the next area. Defeat all the enemies here, then bomb the floor at the end. There's a TON of enemies in this next part, so kill them all before bombing the floor once more. Jump onto the pillar in the acid and grab the MISSILE TANK (70). Yay, that's our thirteenth one. Now head over to the suspicious looking stones and fall through. You'll see an upgrade (it's a Super Missile Tank), but it's currently unreachable, so ignore it. Instead, roll through the tunnel on your right. In the vertical room, fall down to the very bottom and enter the door on your right, which is a Save Room. After saving, head through the door directly opposite you. Recharge if you need to by using the Chozo Statue, otherwise just continue to run left and then roll under the obstacle. Destroy the first enemy, and then shoot at the ceiling where the first enemy was. Lay down a bunch of bombs rapidly and you'll eventually triple bomb jump to the ENERGY TANK (2). If you can't get it, then you can return later with the Hi-Jump. Continue left and head through the door. In the next room, destroy the enemy and bomb the bridge to drop down into a hidden area. Drop all the way down to the bottom and jump up onto the left ledge. Roll around and bomb it and you'll drop into a cannon. When you're sitting in this cannon, bomb it and hold right as you fly up. You'll fly into a hidden area and if you're holding right, you'll fall into a little cave with a MISSILE TANK (75). Now return to the bottom of the hidden area and enter the room on the right. Take the elevator down to Kraid. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Kraid | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ Drop down a couple of platforms and enter the room on the left. Save your game here and then run up against the left wall. Curl up into a ball and place bombs down as you hold the control stick left. You'll fall into a hidden area. Roll forward here, breaking all the blocks, and you'll enter a room with acid and pillars. Jump up to the top pillar and grab the MISSILE TANK (80) that's there. Return to the vertical room you were in and you'll notice a red door across from you. Use a missile to open it, and then head through the door. Jump across the platforms and small pillars and grab the MISSILE TANK (85) in plain sight. Continue heading right, and then break all the stones blocking your way. Defeat the two enemies here and continue right. Avoid the enemies in the pipe and defeat some more jumping enemies while blasting some more walls. Go through the door at the end. Here, drop down and bomb the last stone that makes up the floor. Fall through and you should notice a cannon below some more stones. Bomb the stones and fall into the cannon, then lay a bomb to fire yourself up. Hold left as you go and when you land, remain in ball form. Roll to the right and fall off the ledge, then immidiately hold left and you'll fall into a little alcove. Roll left, down, and right to the MISSILE TANK (90). Now drop down and you'll fall to the first part of this vertical room. Return to the cannon and fire yourself up to the left ledge again. Jump onto the small ledge on your right and you'll grab it, and then press left and A at the same time to jump to the little ledge on your left. Do this once more to get to the ledge on your right, and then hold L to aim diagonally at the stone blocking the tiny ledge on your right. Once it's gone, jump to it and then jump a few more small ledges and you'll finally be at a door. Head through that door. Here, shoot diagonally at the two cracked purple blocks, and jump to the small ledge across the acid gap. Head left, jumping the gaps and taking care not to fall into the acid. At the end, go through the door. In the next room, destroy the stones and then fall through the gap. You'll fall down onto a cannon. Curl up into a ball and lay a bomb to be sent up high. You should pass a blue stone on the right. As you're falling, drop a bomb next to that stone to destroy it. Get in the cannon a second time and as you're falling, hold right to enter the area where the blue stone was. Bomb the second stone here and defeat the enemies, then go through the door on your right by blasting a missile. In the next room, you'll spot a strange statue with a hole. Jump into the hole and morph into a ball, and you'll activate some energy and it'll make the red light brighten. Shoot the light and a pulley will move across the top of the room. Grab onto it and it'll take you to the other side. On the way, you'll grab an ENERGY TANK (3). Head into the room on your right, which is a Save Room. Save your game and then continue through the door on your right. In the vertical room, run over to the blue block and you'll automatically fall down to the bottom. Head through the door on your left, and then through the door after that. In this next room, you should spot a second pulley. Grab it and as you're going across, a second Earthworm will rise. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BOSS: Earthworm 2 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Difficulty: Easy Requirements: Missiles When you start, you'll be on the left side. The worm will retreat into the acid, and you'll see only its head. Remian on the block you're on and keep your attention focused on the worm. When its head starts to shake and the flaps on its mouth open up, jump up to the pulley. It'll charge at the place where you were previously, but you should be on the other side by then. If not, you'll be knocked into the acid. Turn around and start rapidly shooting missiles at the worm. You should get in a lot of hits before it retreats to the ground. When its head shakes and the flaps open up again, jump onto the pulley once more and head to the other side. Repeat the process of shooting it with lots and lots of missiles. When it changes color, you won't have that much time to blast it with missiles, so you'll have to speed up a bit. If you've been following this guide, you should have plenty of missiles for this battle. Once the worm is gone, the acid will lower. ******************************************************************************* Once the Earthworm is gone, drop down to the small area where it used to rest and bomb the floor. Bomb it once more, and then go left. Carefully jump across the three pillars, and then shoot the top part of the wall to reveal a small hole. Head through and bomb the blocks, and then defeat all the slugs. Jump onto the floating pillar and grab the MISSILE TANK (95). Now head back to the previous room and then jump up to the main part. Head through the door on your left. Destroy the slugs and then jump into the cannon and blast yourself up. On the way down, hold the control stick right and you'll fall into a little area with a door on your right. Head through the door and then shoot the red light directly above you to call the pulley. Grab it and you'll be taken across the acid. Break the purple blocks on the other side and curl into a ball and roll down to the door on your right. When you reach the vertical room, drop down all the way (that includes falling through the floor) and then head through the door on your left. Head left in this next room, blasting through the blocks and enemies. In the vertical room, head to the room directly across and save your game. Now go back to the previous room and drop down a couple of ledges. Head through the left door (the first one you see). Here, blast the purple blocks and maneuver through the tunnel by bombing and jumping. At the end, use a bomb jump to grab onto the pulley (still in ball form). When you get across, head through the left door. Jump up the platforms here and then head through the door on your right. Run forward all the way and go through the tight passage, then jump up to the top area. Ignore all the cracked blocks and roll to the end and you'll find that the door is locked. Head down right, under the blocks, and start rapidly blasting the enemy with missles. After you blast enough missles, it'll be destroyed and the door will open. Here, simply curl into a ball and roll through the small tunnel and fall down and grab the MISSLE TANK (100). Now fall to the bottom of the floor, and then bomb the floor here. After dropping a long way, drop down to the very bottom of this area. Now head right, through the door, and through the next room. You'll be standing on a cracked block the moment you enter the next room, so bomb it. When you land, bomb the next block. Head through the first door you see on your left and save your game. Now exit and go all the way left, but don't go through the door. Destroy the purple blocks and then shoot at the cracked block on the right. Once it's gone, roll through the tunnel that you revealed and you'll fall into a room with a Chozo Statue and Egg. Grab the UNKNOWN ITEM from the egg. Analysis inconclusive. Item incompatible with current suit. ~~~UNKNOWN ITEM ACCQUIRED!~~~ Like the last unkown item, this becomes an ability near the end of the game. For now, you can destroy the strange blocks that pepper Kriad. Shoot the one in front of you and you'll find yourself back in the previous room. Jump up into the small tunnel that's above you and to your left. Roll forward a little and destroy the block, then continue forward. Jump up and head right into the next room. Here, head right, blasting all the enemies (there's a lot) in your way. At the end, head through the door. You're in another Save Room now. After saving your game, head into the next room and go into the room after that (pay no attention to the cracked block). In this next room, defeat the enemy and shoot through the part of the ceiling that's slightly raised. Head forward, shooting through the whole ceiling, and then head through the door on your left. Go through the next room to come to a vertical room. Here, aim up and fire a couple of missles to destroy some blocks. Now jump from ledge ot ledge until you reach the top. Head left a little and fall through the floor, and you'll fall onto some more blocks. Bomb them and head through, then destroy the blue block above you. Don't enter the room on your left, but backtrack a couple of rooms to the hallway with the cracked block we ignored. Destroy the block and fall into the next area. Here, head right all the way but don't go through the door. Instead, jump onto the platform on your left. Jump a few platforms until you see two strang blocks. Destroy them both and jump over the gap, and then head through the door. Shoot a missle at the eye when it opens and grab the energy and missles it leaves behind. Shoot a missle at the red door and get ready for a boss battle. ~~~~~~~~~~~ BOSS: Kraid ~~~~~~~~~~~ Difficulty: Moderate Requirements: Missles Surely you remember Kraid, the dragon beast? I love this guy. Anyway, at the start, he'll throw a bunch of sharp objects at you. Shoot these and missles and energy will be left behind. To damage him, equip your missles and jump up and shoot at Kraid's face. He'll moan and open his mouth. Jump up and shoot a missle inside. If you're quick, you can shoot a couple of missles into his mouth before he decides to close it again. He's still throwing the sharp objects, even when he's in pain, so watch out for those. After you damage him enough, he'll swipe with his claw and destroy the platform that you're on, knocking you to the bottom of the arena. Joy. You can't damage him from here, but he can damage you. If you look behind you, you can see some brown platforms sticking out of the wall. Jump onto all of these platforms (be careful, because they disappear after a short amount of time) and then jump onto the tiny platform near the top of Kraid. It's hard to stay on this platform, because Kraid likes to swipe his claw at you, knocking you back. If you fall, just use the brown platforms again to get back up. While you're on the small platform, continue to shoot missles at his face and his mouth. Eventually, he'll turn red, which means he's sufffered quite a bit of damage. Remeber, if you run out of missles, you can shoot the sharp objects he throws at you. Eventually, Kraid will sink into the ground and explode. ******************************************************************************* You'll see a short cut-scene to the two-headed eagle you saw at the very beginning of the game. One of the eagle's eye and mouth will turn red. Yahoo. Once you're in control again, head to the left and bomb the strang blocks. Head into the next room to find yet another Chozo Statue and Egg. Destroy the egg and grap the SPEED BOOST. Run until speed boost begins to break certain blocks and damage enemies. ~~~SPEED BOOSTER ACCQUIRED!~~~ After recharging, drop down and head to the very back of the room. Start running to the right, and don't stop running even when you enter Kraid's room. The Speed Booster will eventually kick in. You'll charge through some blocks; keep running in the next room (you'll automatically destroy the enemies). Be sure to open the door as you're running toward it. Keep running in the next room and you'll break through a final barrier and stop running. Jump up to the top and start freezing the enemies as it's going up. Eventually, you'll have to start shooting the wall and jumping onto the blocks. Keep shooting the wall and using it as a platform until you get to actual platforms. Jump up and enter the first room on your left. Head forward, but make sure the Speed Booster doesn't activate. Jump across the pillars, and then through the acid waterfall (you'll take damage as you're going through, so don't hang around it for too long). Jump across some more pillars until you encounter a seemingly dead end. Crouch down and fire a single shot, then grab the MISSLE TANK (105) that you reveal. Now backtrack through this room and head up to the top of the vertical chamber. If you want to save, enter the room on your right, which is a Save Room (obviously). Now head through the door directly opposite the Save Room. Here, grab onto the pully and turn around. As the enemies approach you, shoot a bunch of missles and destroy them all. If you don't destroy all of them, you'll fall into the acid room below (the one with the waterfall). When you land on a cracked block, shoot the big block to your left, and then go through the small tunnel and blast the block at the end. In the next room, destroy the blue blocks below you and fall down to the very bottom of the room. Enter the room on your left here. Avoid the pipe enemies, and then destroy all the jumping enemies for supplies. In the next room, blast open the red door with a missle and download the MAP OF KRAID. ~~~MAP OF KRAID ACCQUIRED!~~~ Now backtrack through the previous two rooms and you'll be back in the vertical area. Jump up to the platform above and shoot the set of the four blue blocks. Jump toward the cramped passage and grab on, then roll through. Enter the door on your right. Here, shoot the red light and jump onto the pillar. Do a bomb jump so you'll grab onto the pulley in morph ball form, allowing you to cross the room. Enter the next door. Here, roll through the series of tunnels and drop down at the end. Open the door here. In this room, you'll notice a series of barracades preventing you from crossing the room using the pulley. Bomb the green bricks in between the sets of purple (ignore the first set of green bricks for now; start with the second). Drop down to fall into a cannon. Shoot yourself up and you'll smash one set of barracades. Do this for all three barracades, then return to the first set of green bricks. Call the pulley over, and then bomb the bricks. Drop down and shoot yourself up to the pulley. You'll be carried over to a MISSLE TANK (110). Now return to the previous room and head through the passage of tunnels again, and through the door. Again, you have to cross the room in morph ball form, so do so and enter the next room. Here, you want to reach the second door on the left, so freeze the enemies so they're near the left side, and break the set of blue blocks. Jump up to the room on the left and go through. In this big room, drop down to the bottom. Defeat the enemies if you wish, and jump up onto the green platform. Jump up onto the second platform, and then jump onto the third one (with the red light). Stand above the light and curl into a ball. Lay down bombs to activate the pulley. With luck, you'll bomb jump up to it and grab on as it passes. Keep trying until you grab on. As it's taking you to the left, press A when you pass over the collumn with the missle tank. Drop down and you'll grab the MISSLE TANK (115). Return to the vertical room and start climbing it. Pass the set of doors where one is blue and one is red, and enter the left room above that set, which is a Save Room. After saving, return to the red door and blast through with a missle. In the next room, start running through and the Speed Booster will kick in. Run until you reach the edge of the platforms, and then jump as far as you can. You'll break through the blocks below the pulley, giving access to the ENERGY TANK (4). After you grab it, activate the red light to call the pulley over. Ride it across to the other side of the room. Back in the vertical room, make your way to the very top of it and take the elevator back up to Brinstar. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Brinstar | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ Miracuously, the wall will crumble when you arrive, allowing access to a new area. Cool. So head through and open the red door using a missle. There is a Chozo Statue here, so jump into it to be directed to a deeper area in Norfair. Recharge and then head left, out of this room and then out of the next room. In this vertical area, head all the way to the top of it. Go right once you reach the top, and head through this room, avoiding the enemies. Curl into a ball and roll under the tunnel, and continue left. Recharge if needed with the Chozo Statue (though I doubt you'll need it, you just recharged), and then continue into the vertical room. Here, head forward into the next room and save your game, then return to the vertical room. Head up eight platforms here, then jump to the ledge on the right. Go up to the wall and lay down bombs while holding the control pad to the right. Eventually, you'll double bomb jump into a hidden area. Roll as far as you can go and lay a bomb, then roll up and jump up to the ledge containing the MISSLE TANK (120). After you have the missles, freeze the two enemies and curl into a ball, then roll thorugh the tunnel to your right. Yay, you just took a nice shortcut. Head out of the tunnel you're in and go through the door right in front of you. Cross this LONG room, avoiding the enemies and acid and bombing areas when needed. At the end, enter the next room, which is the elevator room. Head down to Norfair. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Norfair | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ Drop down to the left side and you'll fall thorugh the floor. Enter the right room, which is a Save Room. After saving your game, head into the next area. Remember this LARGE, acid filled room? Go up and down the platforms again until you enter the next room. Here, head to the back of the area, and then run to the left, shooting open the door as you run. Continue to run to the left when you re-enter the big, acid filled room. The Speed Booster will kick in, and you'll break open a couple of walls. Make sure to stop before you fall into the acid. Now stand near the acid and start running to the left. With the walls broken, you should have no interference as the Speed Booster kicks in once more. Make sure to open the door as you approach it. In the next room, you should be going fast enough to break through some blocks on the floor, dropping you into another area. Here, enter the room on the left. As you run to the left, blast through any blocks that get in your way. When you reach the end, turn around and start running right. Blast through the door and you should fall through the floor once more (assuming that the Speed Booster activated, which it should've done). Enter the room on left and head toward the back, destroying all the enemies for supplies if you wish. Blast open the door with a missle and you'll find yourself in another Chozo Statue/Egg room. This egg holds the HI-JUMP. Increases maximum jump height. Adds Morph Ball jumping capability. ~~~HI-JUMP ACCQUIRED!~~~ Recharge using the Chozo Statue and then return to the previous room. Go through this room, and back to the vertical room. Thanks to the Hi-Jump ability, you can now jump up to the small ledge that's on your right. Grab on and roll through the small tunnel, then drop down to the MISSLE TANK (125). Drop down some more ledges, until speed blocks prevent you from dropping any lower. Blast the wall on the left to open the path. Jump up the ledges here and enter the top door on your left. You're in another Chozo Statue room. This statue will tell you to head to Brinstar, near the top of it. After your energy is restored, jump up the platforms near the statue. Enter the door on the right side to be back in the vertical room. Here, jump onto the ledge on your right and you'll fall through the floor and onto a cannon. Activate this cannon and blast yourself up, through the walls. When you land, drop down and enter the left door. Run forward and let the Speed Booster do the rest. When you reach the other side of the room, save and then continue to the next room. Using the enemies as platforms, make your way back up to the elevator and back up to Brinstar. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Brinstar | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ Head left through that long room again (thanks to the Hi-Jump, avoiding the enemies should be no problem) and stop when you reach the vertical room. Head up to the very top (stopping at the first door on the right to save). Don't freeze the enemies when you get them, but head through the door on your right. Roll under the pillar and then jump over the second one, then roll through the small tunnel. Jump to the top pipe (remembmer, your Morph Ball has a jumping capability now) and roll right all the way. Drop down onto the ledge and go forward. You'll find a strange plant is blocking the main way, but you can shoot the block above and roll through the pipe and drop down in front of the door. Head through the door and defeat the enemy that's bouncing around. Aim up at the ceiling and start shoot and you'll blow a couple of holes in it. Jump up and grab onto the RIGHT ledge and pull yourself up. Don't try to jump to the ledge on the left just yet, because you'll fall short and go through the floor. Wait until the flying enemy here gets within jumping distance and freeze it, then use it as a platform and jump to the ledge. Shoot through the blocks here and jump up, then head into the next room. Shoot the plants a couple of times and the leeches will jump on and start destroying them. After they destroy both plants, kill them with a bomb. Go through the small hole and then jump up to the large structure. Roll down into the small gap, then quickly return to normal and jump up to the ledge before the block below you disappears. Repeat this once more, then destroy the blocks blocking your way. This will free the leeches. Let them destroy the plant here, then kill them with a bomb and continue forward. Blast open the door with a missle. Once more, a Chozo Statue and Egg. Inside this egg is the extremely useful VARIA SUIT. Decreases damage taken from enemies. Prevents damage from acid and heat. ~~~VARIA SUIT ACCQUIRED!~~~ Now you can safely move through acid pools without fear, granting access to a ton of new areas. The screen will flash breifly and Samus's suit will darken. Recharge if needed by means of the Chozo Statue, then head back to the other room. Here, run forward and step on the out-of-place block to drop into the acid. You'll sink into a large pool of acid. Head down a bit and start bombing the floor. You'll destroy a portion of it. Drop down and start bombing the left wall. Bomb a bunch of blocks until you're in a small cave. Run forward and grab the ENERGY TANK (5) here. Now exit the acid pool and then exit the room entirely. Drop down to the main path again (it's blue on the map), and head right, into a Save Room. Save your game and then head forward. Go right a little bit, past the acid for now. When you get to a pipe on your right, drop down into the acid and you'll find some blocks. Bomb them, but make sure not to fall in just yet (if you do, you can just head left and take a path up to an earlier part of the room). Instead, roll through the pipe and blast the red part of the pillar to raise it. Roll under and have the leeches collect onto your body. Thanks to the Varia Suit, you won't take damage from these guys anymore. Return to the hole you just blew and drop down, then head right to find one of those strang plants again. Have the leeches move on over to it and watch as they slowly destroy the plant. When it's gone, head right and roll through the pipe into the next area. Jump up a few ledges to find a Chozo Statue. Jump in and it'll tell you to go to Norfair, to an area we haven't visited. And it's near the core of the area, so we have a long way to go :( After your energy is recharged, go right for quite a while, into a vertical area. Drop down for a while and enter the second door on the left (from the bottom). Go left all the way, jumping across the pillars and shooting/avoiding the enemies. Ignore the cracked blocks in the next room and head left all the way in the room after that. Again, continue left in the next room and then run to the other side of the empty room here. You'll reach a large, vertical chamber. Drop down and roll through the tunnel, and then enter the room on the right, which is a Save Room. After saving your game, continue down, all the way to the bottom of the area. Head through the door on the right. Your back in that one long room we've been through so many times already. Head through the whole thing, and take the elevator down to Norfair. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Norfair | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ Drop down to the bottom of this room and then head right. Save if you wish (though you just did, so I see no point), and continue on to the large lava room. Go through this whole thing (beware, there's LAVA in here, not acid so you can still get hurt) as usual, and you'll arrive in another vertical room. In this area, head all the way to the top, while killing the enemies. Enter the left room here. If you tried to go in here earlier, your energy would rapidly decrese due to the intense heat. The Varia Suit prevents that, so you can go forward, jumping across the platforms (remeber, lava is below you, so you can still get hurt). At the end is a lovely MISSLE TANK (130). Now leave this room the same way you came. Now drop down to the very bottom of the vertical room and head through the door. Start running toward the back, and you'll break through all the walls. Now run back right, waiting for the Speed Booster to kick in. Rush into the vertical room and the blocks below you should break. Now drop down and head into the next room on the left. Shoot all the platforms in your way and run to the right again. The Speed Booster should activate, allowing you to break some blocks back in the vertical room. Drop down once more and enter the next room that you see. Head all the way left in the next room, defeating the flying enemies and jumping over the lava. Recharge if needed with the Chozo Statue in the next room, otherwise roll under the statue and into the next area. Here, blast the blocks in your way, then blast the blocks above you. Defeat the purple flame and jump up, then continue to roll and blast two more blocks. You should fall onto a small platform. Run to the edge of this platform and jump to the pillar in front of you. If you fall into the lava, just bomb the blocks on the small ledge and get back up. Freeze the enemy once you're on the pillar and use it to jump to the door. In the next room, head forward and shoot blasts at the flying flames that dive at you. Once they, and all other enemies, are gone, head back to the front of the room. Start blasting/bombing all the blocks that area in your way. Once they're all gone, head back to the front once more and start running left. Continue running after the Speed Booster kicks in, and when you reach the end of the platform you're on, jump forward and you should fly through all the blocks. Continue into the next room. Here, shoot the enemy with a bunch of missles until it dies. Continue into the next room, which is a Save Room. After you save your game, continue. Go straight through the next room. Here, shoot the enemy that jumps out of the lava to freeze it. Use it to get across the pillar. Next, aim diagonally down and shoot the enemy, and use it as a platform. Do this once more with a scropion-type enemy and you'll be at the end of the room. In this vertical room, drop down to the bottom and shoot the left door with a missle. This is the map room, so download the MAP OF NORFAIR. ~~~MAP OF NORFAIR ACCQUIRED!~~~ Exit this room, and then drop into the lava. It'll disappear, so you can continue down without being harmed. Drop through the floor, and head all the way to the bottom. When you reach the bottom, head through the right door. You have to be REALLY careful in this room, because the pillars that you use to cross are VERY thin. To make it worse, enemies crawl all over the place and knock you into the lava below. Cautiously make your way to the other side, where you should go through the door. Head right a little, then lay a bomb. Continue to the bottom area by bombing and falling, and then go through the right door. Here, head forward (again, lava and thin pillars, so be very cautious). When you reach a second scorpion-type enemy that's jumping out of the lava, jump up and destroy the second block from the top. It'll reveal a MISSLE TANK (135), so grab it. While being catious, make your way to the end of the room, where there's another MISSLE TANK (140) in plain sight. Now carefully head back and exit this room. Back in the vertical room, head up to the main area and head through the right door. Here, defeat the enemies and shoot the vines, using missles to destroy the vines with enemies wedged into them. Go into the next room, which is a Save Room. After saving your game, head back to the previous room and bomb the floor. You'll drop into the lava, which will disappear. Drop down to the bottom of this room and head left into the next room. Here, bomb the wall and defeat the huge enemy with missles. Continue forward and bomb the second wall, then open the red door with a missle. In the next room, grab the WAVE BEAM from the Chozo Egg. This beam, which is made up of energy waves, can pass through solid objects. ~~~WAVE BEAM ACCQUIRED!~~~ Recharge with the Chozo Statue (if you fell in the lava a lot, you'll need it). Now return to the Save Room that we just used, and save again if you wish. Continue into the room on the right. Here defeat the enemies and start to run right, up the hill. Start firing your Wave Beam at the blocks as you run, and the Speed Booster should activate, allowing you to charge through the barrier. In the next room, a giant slug thing will be sleeping above you (note the change of music). You'll want to roll into the little cave below the slug and start shooting at the belly. Eventually, it'll explode and clear the path for you. So head to the place where the slug was and continue forward. Eventually, your path will be blocked by another slug. This one will screech and charge at you. Lay down a couple of bombs and they'll hopefully explode when the slug runs over them, damaging it. If it backs you into a wall, use your beam to move it back, and then try to damage it with bombs again. Once the slug is gone, head forward and stop when you get to the slug's shell. Shoot the ceiling to make a tank appear. Blast the ceiling with a missle and jump up to grab the ENERGY TANK (6). Now head back left and start running right. Blast the door open and in the next room, your speed will cause the blocks to break. After you fall to the bottom, jump up and collect the MISSLE TANK (145) that's in plain sight. Drop back down to the bottom and head through the door. Save your game in the next room, and then continue. In this room, use beam shots and missles to break all the vines. Head through the tunnel by bombing/rolling at the end. You'll automatically drop down in the next room. Bomb the hole and prepare to face a boss. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BOSS: Giant Slug ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Difficulty: Moderate Requirements: Missles, Ice Beam, Hi-Jump This slug hangs from the ceiling and likes to shoot balls of energy at you. That's its only attack, and it's really easy to avoid. There's a flying shelled enemy moving around here. When it's about halfway up the left or right wall, shoot it with your beam to freeze it. Jump up onto the enemy and you should notice some red vines that keeps the slug hanging from the ceiling. Jump up and shoot as many missles as you can at the vines until the enemy thaws. At that point, wait until it reaches the opposite wall and freeze it once more. Jump up and start attacking the vines again. It takes three hits with a missle to destroy a vine, and there are (I think) eight vines total. Just repeat this method until all vines are gone, and then the slug will drop down and crash a hole through the floor, ending the battle. ******************************************************************************* Once the slug is trapped under the debris, drop down into the hole it made and head left all the way. Shoot through the door at the end, and then take the elevator in the next room down to Ridely. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Ridely | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ The moment you land in Ridely, take the elevator back up. Yes, there WAS a point to that, by the way. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Norfair | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ Here, head back left all the way into the boss room, and you'll find that the slug has vanished now that you've entered Ridely. So drop down to where it was and continue dropping down some ledges until you enter Ridely once more. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Ridely | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ Okay, we're in here for a LONG time now. No sudden departures. Drop down all the way here and then go left, up to the ledge, into another area. Here, you'll automatically drop through the wall. Shoot all the flowers things that block your path, and you should notice a strange upgrade at the end, blocked by a bunch of plants. However, no time to think, because the Giant Wasp will suddenly descend. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BOSS: Giant Wasp ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Difficulty: Moderate Requirements: Missles, Morph Ball As you might've guessed, the wasp's weak point is its stinger. When it descends at the start of the battle, immidiately go into a ball form so it'll pass under you. Once its past, chase after it while rapidly shooting missles at the stinger. It'll flash a bunch of times. Don't get in front of the wasp, because then it'll shoot some stones out of its stinger and they'll damage you. When you reach the right side, it'll fly up and descend once more. Get into ball form to avoid it, but you'll usually miss when you try to shoot the wasp with missles because it'll always be a little higher than you. Instead, head up to the left side in ball form. When it comes down, chase after it once more and fire missles. You only have to do this about three or four times before the stinger falls off. After that it'll fly into the plants blocking the upgrade. ******************************************************************************* Go into the little cave and collect the health and missles, as well as the SUPER MISSLE TANK. Arm with Select. Fire with R+B. Opens green hatches. ~~~SUPER MISSLES ACCQUIRED!~~~ These are much more powerful than a regular missle, but you only get two missles per upgrade and there's barely any upgrades in the game. They're useful for bosses, so stick to regular missles when fighting tough enemies. After you have the super missles, head back right and go through the door. Defeat the strange enemies here and then fire a missle into the block at the end. Drop down to the very bottom of this vertical area and head through the door on your right. Save your game, and then return to the previous room. Arm yourself with the super missles and shoot one at the green door to open it (be sure to switch back to regular missles after the door is open). In the next room, simply head forward, defeating all the enemies and jumping over the obstacles. Shoot a missle at the door and enter the next room. DON'T MOVE. You'll see a tank on the other side, but the floor will collapse. Run forward four blocks, then jump over the next four blocks. You should grab on to the ledge. When you pull yourself up, you'll grab the ENERGY TANK (7). If you fall through the floor, you'll have to head left for a couple of rooms, then go back right for a couple of rooms. Once you have the tank, head through the left door. Defeat the enemy here and bomb the left block. Don't roll in yet, because ab out a dozen enemies will come out. Make sure they're all gone before rolling through (if you didn't wait, you'd be overrun). Bomb the next block and then defeat the enemy. Continue into the next room. Here, drop down, defeating/avoiding the enemies, until you come to the first two doors. Go through the left one and you'll find yourself in a Save Room. After saving your game, go back to the previous room. Drop through the small gap, and roll right. Drop down, head left, and jump up and grab the MISSLE TANK (150). Now drop/roll down to the very bottom of the room and blast open the door with a missle. Head through to find yourself in the Map Room. Download the MAP OF RIDLEY. ~~~MAP OF RIDELY ACCQUIRED!~~~ Continue into the next room. Be prepared to do one of the hardest puzzles in the game (unfortunately, there's a lot of these tough puzzles now). If you want two tanks, you can do this puzzle, otherwise, skip the following instructions. Okay, in the next room, head forward and look up. You should notice a fenced area attatched to the ceiling. Jump up and break the purple blocks, then jump into the fenced area. Run right until the Speed Booster activates, then stop and turn around. Start running left and as the Booster kicks in, shoot the purple blocks and press down on the control pad. You'll hold in the energy of the speed booster (useful technqiue). Quickly drop down and shoot open the door to the left (keep running though). Jump over the small lava pit and stop before the tiny hill. Press A, and then hold the control stick left. The Speed Booster will start up again. Run into the Map Room and shoot the door open as you run into the vertical room. You'll break a couple of blocks, allowing you to progress further. Drop down all the way here and get against the right wall. Start running and shoot the door open ahead of you. In the next room, the Speed Booster should start up. Wait until you reach the end of the room, then press down. Press A and push up to fly straight up. When you stop, fall right and grab onto the ledge. Roll through the small tunnel, and hold right as you fall, so you'll roll into another small tunnel. Roll left and drop down, and then return to normal and jump up and grab onto the ledge (you have to do this quickly, or the floor below will collapse). Roll through this small tunnel. As you're falling, quickly unroll and grab onto the ledge on your left. Remain hanging and shoot a missle at the block on your right. Now jump up and grab onto the right ledge as you're falling. Roll through and jump up to the tiny tunnel above you. Roll forward SLOWLY and near the end, you should see a disappearing block. If you were going slow, you shouldn't run over it. Now roll over and IMMIDIATELY unroll and start shooting left. Once you break a block, quickly grab onto the ledge and roll through. Okay, that was the hardest part of the puzzle, but there's still more :( Roll to the end quickly and grab the MISSLE TANK (155), then quickly roll off the block with the missle tank to avoid falling through the floor. Roll to the middle of this tunnel and immidiately unroll and start shooting missles at the blocks. Grab onto the ledge if you start to fall. After all three blocks are gone, quickly jump up and grab onto the ledge (don't pull yourslef up). Shoot the blocks above quickly and then jump up again and grab the ledge. Shoot the final block and grab the MISSLE TANK (160). Whew, that was a challenge, wasn't it? Head back to the very back of this room and run right, through the door. When the booster activates, hold down, then A and up to shoot through the blocks here. Go past the Map Room and tno the horizontal zoom. Head all the way to the right, jumping over the lava and the enemies, and grab the MISSLE TANK (165) that's in plain sight at the end. Continue through this LONG room, avoiding the pipe enemies and lava pits, and then go through the door at the end. Save here (you don't want to have to do that puzzle again). In the next room, head all the way up, defeating the enemies, and then shoot the door on the left. Here, head to the fifth pipe with enemies coming out. Get down and bomb it, and you'll fall through. Bomb the blocks in your way and you'll drop into a hidden area. Roll onto the bridge in front of you and bomb it and you'll fall into the lava, which will disappear. Bomb the right wall and grab the MISSLE TANK (170) that's left behind. Now head out of the lava and through the pipe, and then continue left, defeating the enemies, and go through the door on your left. In this next room, jump up and roll through the tunnel, then fall to the floor. Bomb the purple block to release the four flames. Defeat them, then jump up to the pillar and grab the lovely MISSLE TANK (175). Now jump to the ledge to the left and lay a bomb to blow a hole. Jump up and arm yourself with a Super Missle, then shoot it at the block. Roll through and you'll encounter a big obstacle. Bomb it, and every block will blow up except the first one, which will break with a single blast :) Grab the SUPER MISSLE TANK (4) floating in the air. Now drop down back to the main path and roll through the tunnel on your left. Get up and go into the next room. You'll see a tank up on a ledge, but don't jump to it or you'll fall short. Wait until an enemy gets within jumping distance, and then freeze it. Use it as a platform to grab the MISSLE TANK (180). Now drop down to the bottom of the area and go into the left room. Save your game here and continue into the next room. Here, you'll want to fall through the little block and head forward. You'll spot an eye here, and wait until it opens up, then shoot a single super missle at it. Grab the items it leaves behind and then go through the door. Here, grab the UNKNOWN ITEM from the egg. Analysis inconclusive. Item inconpatible with current suit. ~~~UNKNOWN ITEM ACCQUIRED!~~~ Again, this will become useful later, but for now, it just allows you to break the blocks. Recharge with the statue, then break the block right behind it. Head straight through the wall and grab the ENERGY TANK (8). Yay. Now head back to the previous room and run forward. You'll find the door is locked. Turn around and who should arrive than none other but... ~~~~~~~~~~~~ BOSS: Ridely ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Difficulty: Moderate Required items: Missles This has got to be my all time favorite boss character out of any video game I've played. Ridely is really, really fun to fight. Problem is that he's pretty tough if you don't have lots of missles, but if you recharged and have been following this guide, you're all set. When Ridely swoops down, he'll break the bridge, so the front of it is cut off. He'll then proceed to shoot a load of fireballs at you, which can knock you into the lava if you're not careful. Destroy the fireballs with your beam. When Ridely starts to fly up, jump to the main bridge part and start to shoot missles like you've never shot them before. Literally. He'll continue to throw a bunch of fireballs at you, but if you stand under him, you'll be able to avoid him. Ridely likes to pick you up with his tail, causing massive damage. If you have the health, allow yourself to be picked up, because you can get in lots of missle shots that way. Ridely will eventually turn yellow, then red, signaling that he's at low health. Finally, he'll fall down and perish. Cut to the eagle statue, and the second eagle will turn red. You're now ready to take the path to the Mother Brain. ******************************************************************************* Once Ridely is gone, head to the right and recharge with the Chozo Statue. Then head to the left into the previous room. Get close to the pipe, and destroy the enemy that comes out. Wait, and then jump a little bit, so that the next enemy rises higher. Shoot it with your beam to freeze it, then use it as a platform to reach a higher ledge. Destroy the strange block here and run through the wall and you'll drop back down in front of the door. Head through and save your game once more. Head to the next room, and then run to the room on your right. Go a little bit into it, then start running left. Shoot the door and go through as you're running. When the Speed Booster kicks in, make sure you're in the vertical room and press down. Then go to the right edge of the room and fly up. Make sure to fall to the right, so you fall back near the top. Get to the platform that head the missle tank, and then run forward and grab onto the left ledge, so you can reach the door here. Go through into the next room. Here, simply run to the left while defeating all the enemies for supplies. Grab the SUPER MISSLE TANK (6) in the next room. Now curl into a ball and jump toward the right. There's a tunnel in the wall that's not visible until you actually go through it. So go through and come out, and grab the MISSLE TANK (185) in the air (break the block first). Head into the room on your left. Here, roll into a ball and fall down the gap, but quickly unroll and grab onto the ledge on your left. Shoot down to break the block, and drop down and grab onto the ledge on your right before you fall through the floor. Grab the MISSLE TANK (190) here. Now drop down to the bottom and use the cannon on your right side to get back up to the top. Roll through the tunnel again, but instead of grabbing onto the left ledge this time, roll into the tunnel there. There's a block that disappears at the end. Roll onto that and quickly get up and shoot upward to clear the blocks, then jump to the top ledge and roll to the MISSLE TANK (195) that's there. Backtrack to the vertical room, and fall to the very bottom. Head through the door on your right now. This room has nothing, so head forward and then shoot the top part of the wall so you can continue. Continue forward into the next room. Here, roll forward a little and bomb the block before the rise. Drop down and bomb another block, and you'll end up in a hidden cave. Head forward and grab the ENERGY TANK (9) here. Now continue going right, and shoot the wall at the end to break it. Go baack to the main part of this room, and then roll through the tunnel that's right in front of you. You'll drop down a little bit, then head forward. Go through the door at the end. Now drop down to the bottom of this room and go through the door. Save your game and continue left. Remember this room? Yeah, we're taking advantage of that fenced area again to break some more blocks. So head into it and run left until the Speed Booster kicks in. At that point, turn and run right, breaking the blocks in your way. When you reach the edge, hold down. QUICKLY rush in to the Save Room, and run to the edge, past the actual save point and below the small hill. Start speeding right again (blast open the door on your way). Press down in the next room and quickly jump to the third ledge (it's on the right; watch out for the enemy) and dash to the right to break through the wall and into a new room. Now head right, going through the door. Head all the way right, and then turn around all the way left. Shoot the door open in front of you and continue running. When the Speed Booster starts up, hold down and rocket up through the little raised part of the ceiling. Now head to the far left, shoot the door open, and start running into the next room. Shoot all the blocks in your way (the middle one in the second set has to be hit with a missle), and when the Speed Booster kicks in, run through a couple of the blocks, then jump and fly right. If you jumped at the right time, you'll break through all the blocks and will be able to get the MISSLE TANK (200) that's there. If you mess up, simply head back to the previous room and try again. Once you have it, then rush back left into the previous room and you'll fly through the wall and end up back at the vertical room. Jump up a couple of platforms and shoot the strange block. Head through and you'll enter a secret tunnel. Go up and right in this tunnel to end up near the top of the vertical room. Jump up the platforms here and head through the door on your left. Jump across the lava and defeat the enemies. When you reach the pipe, get onto the left side and get close. Start jumping a little less than the jump you're capable of. When an enemy rises out, it'll be at that height. Let it charge forward just a little bit, then quickly jump up and freeze it. Jump up onto the enemy and use it to reach the platform on the right. Head forward there and collect the MISSLE TANK (205). Now drop off here and continue going to the left. At the end, you'll have to jump to a platform that's directly above you. You have to be quick on this, or you'll fall into the lava. Continue going right, up, and left. When you reach the end, blast the block with a missle, then drop down and bomb the floor. Go through the tunnel and you'll fall into a lower room. Head through the door that's on your left here. Jump over the pillars in this room and head through the left door. Save your game in the room and return to the previous room. Jump up the pillars and then jump up onto the elevator, which you should take up to Norfair. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Norfair | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ What a wonderful piece of luck. The wall statue will crumble the moment you arrive. So head right, through the wall, and past the area where the enemeis come out. Blast the door with a missle and head through. There's a broken Chozo Statue here, but you can't use it for anything, so continue right and go through the tunnel. Lay bombs down and drp them to fall through the floor. Continue left all the way and go into the next area, which is some sort of tunnel. Start running down the tunnel, past the elevator, and into the next room. Continue to run in the next room, and keep running when you reach the room after that. Start blasting all the blocks that are in your way here. At the end, you'll break some blocks. Drop down into the cannon and blast yourself up a vertical room that's in a different part of Norfair. When you finall land, continue left into the next room. A bunch of enemies are flying around this room; take care and freeze them. Pass the missle tank; we'll get that in a second. Use a missle to blow open the door. Head through to find your first Chozo Egg in a while. This Egg contains the... no... wait for it... SCREW ATTACK. Damage enemies while somersaulting. ~~~SCREW ATTACK ACCQUIRED!~~~ Once you have the Screw Attack, recharge your supply of energy and missles, and head back to the previous room. Here, you can and defeat pretty much every block and enemy. Use the Screw Attack to get the MISSLE TANK (210) that rests here. Now go back right, defating the enemies, into the next room. Here, use your Screw Attack to drop down thihs vertical area. When you see a green door on the right, use a super missle to open it and head through. In this room, you'll want to be VERY cautious, because the platforms are VERY small, and there's lava below you. You can defeat the enemies on the platforms by somersaulting, so you don't have to worry about them. Eventually, you'll come to an area that you have to bomb/roll through. After you get through that part, continue left, until you finally come to a door. Head through and then bomb the floor. Drop down and fall through the lava (it'll disappear), and then head through the door when you reach the bottom. Here, head forward and stop at the left side of the pipe. Remain standing there and then let an enemy fly out. Jump over it as it flies left. When it gets a little past the lone block, freeze it. Jump to the block and jump to the enemy WITHOUT using the Screw Attack. Use the enemy to jump to the pillar with the SUPER MISSLE TANK (8). Remain on this ledge and aim down. When the enemy thaws and flies past you, freeze it again. Now just drop off the pillar and onto the enemy. Shoot the upper wall here to reveal a tunnel. Jump to it and roll through, then head left all the way for a while and grab the MISSLE TANK (215). Now head right, out of this hidden area and then out of the room entirely. In this vertical room, head up and defeat the enemy, then break through the wall and go through the left door. You're back in the long horizontal room with lava and small platforms. Again, carefully maneuver across the platforms, through the tunnel, and through the rest of the room. When you finally reach the end, head into the vertical room. Use the Screw Attack to break through the wall, then go through the door on your right. This is a Save Room, so save your game and continue to the next room. Remember these tough enemies? There's three of them now, but the Screw Attack can take them out in one hit! So destroy all of them and collect all the supplies they leave behind, then continue to the next room. Here, drop down and head left, breaking the blocks and defeating the enemies with the Screw Attack. Continue through the next room, defeating the enemies. Roll through the hole at the end. Back in the Chozo Statue room, recharge and head through the next room. Once you've reached the vertical room, get as far as you can go and break through the right wall, then up and break through left. Here, head through, breaking the blocks and enemies, then jump to the green door. Open it with a super missle and head left. Here, break the walls with missles or your Screw Attack. When you reach the last wall, break through the top block and grab the MISSLE TANK (220) that you expose. Continue left, and head through the door. Here, jump up onto the small platform and bomb the upper-right block. Quickly roll down to the floor with the blocks. When the left wall vanishes, quickly jump to the platform and collect the SUPER MISSLE TANK (10) there. If you mess up, you'll fall through the floor and you'll have to hop over some lava and exit and re-enter, then try again. Once you have the tank, take that lower route out of this room. Now backtrack through a bunch of rooms until you reach the big vertical room again. Jump up and break through the left wall. When you reach the upper part, head through the left door. Charge through, breaking through the walls, and enter the next room, which is a Save Room. After saving your game, head through. In this room, go up and take the elevator to Brinstar. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Brinstar | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ Head left once you reach Brinstar. In this long area, keep running left until you finally get to a long stretch with no obstacles. Start running left, shooting the door open as you go. In the next room, the Speed Booster will activate. Quickly press down and head back to the previous room. Shoot the door open, then get into a ball. Get in front of the tiny hill in front of the door, and then shoot left. You'll shoot through the next room, and into another room. After you break through the middle blocks in this second room, press down and roll into the vertical room. Here, drop down and then jump to the platform to your left. Still a ball, shoot through the left wall, and you'll shoot through another room with some more blocks, and finally into a SUPER MISSLE TANK (12). Okay, once oy've gone through hell, head back into the vertical room. You have a long climb ahead of you. Head all the way to the very top, and you should here head left into the next room. Heal and recharge your missles with the Chozo Statue, and then continue forward. The next room is empty, and the acid can't hurt you, so there's basically nothing. Continue forward. You're now in the room with the eagle statues. Head forward and touch the head. After a brief moment, the heads will shake and the mouths will open, granting you passage to a new area. Head forward, and open the white door. You're now in an elevator room. Take the elevator here down to Tourian, the home of the Mother Brain. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Tourian | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ When you arrive in Tourian, head right. SAVE YOUR FREAKING GAME! It gets really tough here, and even with all the missles and energy that you have, you're still gonna have a tough time. Head into the next room. You'll pass a dead animal as you head into the next room. Here, some strange hollow fireballs will be flying at you. Destroy them and you may find some supplies. Drop down to the bottom of this room and head left. Continue left, and hey, look who wants to join us! As the Metroid approaches you (it looks a lot bigger than it should be), freeze it with the Ice Beam. Then fire five missles at it to kill it. If it latches onto you, it'll rapidly deplete your health. Curl into a ball and lay a bomb down where you area. When it explodes, it'll throw the Metroid back, so you can continue shooting. When its dead, head into the next room. Here, jump the first platform and a Metroid will appear. Don't drop down to the bottom; just kill it here. Now you can drop down, where a second Metroid will come. Defeat it and the door will open. This room has four Metroids, but they luckily appear at different points. Head through this area slowly and cautiously; not because of the lava, but because a Metroid might appear and latch onto you. Once all four are gone, enter the next room. Drop down to the bottom and two Metroids will appear on either side of Samus. Try to jump over one and get them together, then freeze them both. This makes it a lot easier. Kill them and continue. Fight a couple more Metroids as you make your way up to the top of this square room. In the next room, run through (don't worry, no Metroids) and head into the Save Room. Again, save your game, then return to the previous room. Bomb the floor and drop down this vertical area. There's a bunch of Metroids here, but they appear below the platform you're on. Head to the edge and let it come to you, then freeze it. There's about five or six here. When you defeat them all and reach the bottom, head through the door. The room is empty, but the door is locked. I hope you have full health. Bomb the floor and about four Metroids will charge at you. If you bomb the floor again, another four will come. These are the last of the Metroids, so you don't have to worry about any more. If you're at low health, you may want to use super missles to make your job easier, though you'll need to save some for the fight with the Mother Brain. Once all of the Metroids are finally gone, the door at the top will open. Head through and save your game. The next room is as close to a Chozo Statue recharge station as there is in Tourian. Tons of hollow fireballs come at you, and they all have either the big health circles, missles, or super missles. Once you max out one thing, it'll stop appearing. Get all health and missles back, then return and save your game once more. Back in the recharge room, head straight through into the final room of Tourian. This room is PURE HELL. There are cannons fire missles everywhere, hollow fireballs bouncing all over the place, and tiny platforms over deep lava. To make it worse, thick barriers block your way, and it takes about five missles to destroy them. However, if you take too long, the barriers will heal and you'll have to use another five missles :( The first couple barriers are simple to get through, but then you get to TINY platforms over lava with cannon fire and fireballs going everywhere. You can easily lose a couple of tanks trying to destroy that next barrier. Once you get through, you'll find the Mother Brain asleep in a tank. Blast the tank a couple of times with super missles and it'll break. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BOSS: Mother Brain ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Difficulty: Very Hard Requirements: Missles (Super helps) The Mother Brain itself is easy. The fact that there are only two thin platforms over lava with missles shooting everywhere makes this battle ten times harder then it should be. When you start, the Mother Brain's eye will be open. Quickly crouch and fire a super missle into the eye before it closes. Now try to jump from platform to platform, using the Screw Attack to destroy the fireballs. The Mother Brain will glow blue and fire a wave of energy at you. Jump over this and the eye will open. Crouch low and fire another super missle at the eye. If jumping over the energy waves doesn't work, try to jump to the opposite platform, although the cannon fire usually knocks you into the lava, preventing you from damaging the Brain. If you fall into the lava, the eye will close, so don't bother trying to fire from there. You can only fire one super missle at the eye before it closes, so don't waste missles trying to fire two or three. If you run out of super missles (which is very likely), then just use regular missles, although it makes the battle a lot longer. However, you're able to fire in two or three regular missles at the eye before it closes, so just fire them rapidly (you should have over two-hundred left, and you don't really need them after this battle). Repeat the dodging the energy wave/firing at the eye until the Mother Brain is finally destroyed. ******************************************************************************* After you defeat the Mother Brain, a two minute self-destruct timer will activate to blow up the planet. Hey, how many Metroid games have there been that DOESN'T have a self-destruct scenario at one point? Anyway, two minutes is plenty of time if you don't hang around for too long. Head right, into the next room. The flashes and explosions here can be a little distracting, but don't let them distract you too much! There are a TON of crumbling platforms here, but it takes about two seconds for one to cruumble, which is plenty of time to jump to the next platform. Keep jumping up the platforms until you reach an elevator. Take it up to Crateria. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Crateria | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ Here, head through the door and jump up all the platforms (they don't crumble). When you reach the top, run forward, shooting through the walls. Eventually, you'll reach a wide stretch. Continue to run, shooting the door open. In the next area, the Speed Booster will activate and you'll break through some blocks. Head right a little more and you'll find your ship. Jump into it and you'll fly off. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Chozoida | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ Just your luck, the Space Pirates shot you down as you were escaping. Hey, look, it's an auto JUSTIN BAILEY code! Samus is without her power suit, and she has nothing but a small pistol that can stun enemies. Joy. Oh, and the damage you take from enemies is insane. Oh yeah, one more thing, you have 99 health, instead of the 999 that you should have. More joy. The pistol you have charges auutomatically, and enemies are stunned for a longer period of time when you fire a charged shot. The bar below your health is the charging bar. At the start, drop off the ledge and run forward, into the next area. Here, jump up to the ledge (you still have the ability to hang on ledges, by the way). Head left, dropping down the ledge and going forward. You'll approach the Space Pirate Mother Ship. Crawl through the tunnel (crawling is automatic) and head into the next area. Here, you'll see some Space Pirates through the windows. Ignore them and continue forward. You'll find the door is locked (you wouldn't want to go that way anyway), so drop down and head left, below the door. Crouch and shoot the blocks here to open a passage. Crawl through to enter the Mother Ship. Crawl through, then jump up and crawl through a bigger tunnel. You'll see some Space Pirates running above you. Keep crawling into the next area, which is the Map Room (so soon?). Blast the blue barrier blocking your way and then jump up and download the MAP OF THE MOTHER SHIP. ~~~MAP OF THE MOTHER SHIP ACCQUIRED!~~~ Holy crap, this ship is huge. Anyway, once you have the map data, shoot the blue door and head through. It's a Save Room. Since Chozo Statues aren't in the Mother Ship, save stations also act as recharge stations. So not only will you be able to save, but all your health will be recovered. You'll find that the red door here is locked, but there's a passage above it that you can crawl through. A Space Pirate will be patrolling the area below, but unfortuantely, that's the area we need to go to. Make sure you have a charged pistol, then drop down and stun the pirate. Quickly jump up the ledge where the gate closed, and jump up to the platform on your left. Jump to the top to find another pirate. Stun it quickly and rush past, then enter the next room. Like the SA-X from Metroid Fusion, the Space Pirates follow you into different rooms, unlike normal enemies. Quickly crawl through the tunnel and jump up onto the left ledge. Head into a hidden cave and wait there until the Space Pirate leaves and the gate opens. Head through the gate and go into the next room. In this next room, jump up the ledges but DON'T go through the green lasers. As you might of guessed, they are a useful form of security that the Pirates use. Jump over the right one, then head forward and crawl through the tunnel. There's a dead end, but there's a cracked wall. Shoot it and the floor will disappear, and you'll fall through a laser. This can't be avoided, so don't go trying to kill me. DO NOT head through the room that's directly on your right; it's a dead end, and will only get you killed. Instead, jump up and grab onto the right ledge, then head up and through the door. Go up this room and then into the next room, where you need to head up some more. When you reach a room with a long pillar, jump over the pillar and stay there. The Space Pirates will come in, and then leave after a brief moment, opening the gate. Go under the tunnel, then jump up and into the next area. Crawl through the tunnel here, under the Space Pirate Battleship. In the next area, the floor will collapse. Head through the door on your right and save/recharge (you probably need it). Back in the previous room, head up the ledges and then back down the ledges, and go into the room here. Here, shoot the cracked floor and quickly drop down, and head right, into the next room. You'll have to shoot through the cracks here, and then drop down. Continue to shoot through cracks until you reach the bottom, where you should head across the floating platform instead of taking the lower route, where there are two Space Pirates. Blast throug the door at the end and rush forward, where you'll fall through the floor. Wait here for a couple of seconds, and then the pirates will leave, allowing you to head through the gate. Go through the door on your left here. There are yellow searchlights guarding this area, so make sure to avoid them as you climb the ledges. When you get to the very top, head through the door on your right. Here, shoot upward, and then go and shoot the rest of the cracked blocks. DO NOT shoot the cracked portion of the ceiling where there's a door to your left, 'cause a Space Pirate rests up there. Instead, head through the door and then shoot the wall here to blow it up. Drop down and go into the next room, which is a Save Room, thankfully. After saving/recharging, continue through the room. This next room is VERY hard. There are secuirty lasers everywhere, and then there's crumbling blocks that drop you onto the lasers. Drop down to the bottom of the room, and then jump onto the ledge of the laser on the left. From there, maneuver through the ledges, making sure not to stand on the crumbling blocks too long. The ledges of the lasers are safe though, so you can stand on those. Eventually, you'll have to take a long jump to the left over a laser.Once you make that jump, you'll be at the door. Jump up the ledge here and continue into the next room. Drop down and a Space Pirate will appear (again, unavoidable). Crawl through the tunnel and shoot through the next room, then conitnue through some more rooms. You'll eventually exit the Mother Ship and be in a glass tube outside. Continue running left for a couple of rooms, and you'll enter the Chozo Ruins. Drop down to the bottom and head forward. In the next room, blast all the blocks that are in your way. Continue left until you come to a room with a ledge up at the top. Climb the ledge and head to the back, and the Space Pirate will run straight through this room. Once the screen darkens, it means the pirates are gone, yay. Drop down and head into the next room which is (YES!) a Save Room. Save and recharge, and then head into yet another room. There's nothing in this room, so continue heading to the next room. This large room has four or five searchlights bouncing around. Carefully make your way left, then up, then back right. Go through the door at the end, and then drop down and head into the next room. Here, shoot/crawl under the blocks that are in this room. Jump up the ledges at the end and head into another room. This room has nothing, so jump up the ledge and head into another area. The next room is also pointless, so jump up onto the ledge and go through the door. A new type of security is here, thick yellow lasers that move up and down. Some of the platforms overlap the lasers, so they're safe to stand on, even when the lasers go through them. However, there are some platforms where the lasers overlap the platforms, so you have to take extra care with those. In the next room, crawl through the tunnel and the blocks below you will start to crumble. Don't hesitate unless you have to shoot a block that's in your way. Once you cross the bridge, drop down and go through the door on your left. Continue forward through this empty room, and then shoot the wall in the next room and head through the door. Crawl up this next vertical room, destroying/crawling under any blocks. Head through the door and shoot some more blocks. Crawl through the tunnel and into the next area. In this next room, jump up a few ledges and then crawl through yet another tunnel. The upgrade above is a Power Bomb Tank; we'll get that a little later, so for now, just crawl through the rest of the tunnel. In the next room, head forward and you'll drop through the floor, down to the bottom. Crawl under the tunnel and hop up the ledges, then enter the door on your left (if it isn't visible, shoot the wall). This is a Save Room, so save and recharge, then head back to the previous room. Head to the right and you'll be back in the room that had the Power Bomb Tank. It's gone now. Hmmm... wonder how it vanished? Head left all the way, then jump up and crawl through a tunnel. You'll see a Space Pirate taking the Power Bomb Tank away. Wait for it to exit the room, then emerge from the tunnel and follow it into the next room. More moving yellow lasers. Carefully avoid the two here, and then crawl through the tunnel. Head up, and then go all the way right in the next empty room... or so it seems. Some pirates will drop down and give chase. Rush into the next room, which is vertical. Jump up all the ledges and quickly rush into the little tunnel that you see. Crawl through, stunning the pirate that crawls behind you. When you come out of the tunnel, another pirate will drop down. Stun it and rush all the way to the left, then head through the door, jump up the tiny platforms, and head into the next room. Drop down and then run all the way left, then quickly jump up these small platforms. When you reach the top, crawl through and blast the block in your way. Continue forward and blast another block. Rush forward and jump off the bridge, THEN shoot the final block to destroy the bridge, cutting of the pirate's access to you. Head forward and through the door, and then drop down through the floor. Save and recharge, then continue into the next room. Go right, then jump up all the ledges, and head left into the next room. Here's a cut-scene with a huge mural, and a picture of young Samus with an older man. Suddenly, beams will flash and a clone of Samus will appear in a sphere. Get ready for a boss. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ BOSS: Samus Clone ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Difficulty: Moderate Requirements: Emergency Pistol This boss is pretty cool. One, because you're fighting it without any armor. Two, it's in a 3-Dish enviornment. Three because its a clone of Samus. If you shoot the Samus Clone when Samus is actually shown, then you'll be hurt. Wait until a strang picture flashes on the sphere, THEN shoot it. The picture will rise to one of the four blacks circles in the room. After a bit, the mural will flash and the sphere will start to move around. Follow it around, but try to avoid being hit by it. Lightning will flash also, and you take damage from that. Just wait until the symbol flashes in the sphere, then shoot it again. After four hits, the mural will return to the original spot. Stand in the center and look up, and this boss battle will be over. ******************************************************************************* After you finish, the Samus Clone will disappear, and it'll be replaced by your power suit. Samus will regain her suit, along with all power-ups she had. As an added bonus, your energy and missle count is at max. Now the Unknown Item in the Beam category will glow, then turn into the PLASMA BEAM. This powerful beam can blast through multiple enemies. ~~~PLASMA BEAM ACCQUIRED!~~~ The Unknown Item from the Suit category will flash and become the very useful GRAVITY SUIT. Reduces damage from foes. Enables free movement in water. Stops lava damage. ~~~GRAVITY SUIT ACCQUIRED!~~~ The Unknown Item in the Misc. category will flash and become the SPACE JUMP. Somersault continually in the air. Use A mid-somersault to jump again. ~~~SPACE JUMP ACCQUIRED!~~~ YOU GOT YOUR FULLY POWERED SUIT. All power-ups but one are missing, and you are ready to seriously infiltrate the Mother Ship. Space Jump up to the upper-right corner and you should find a hole. Roll through and you'll drop down past the pillar, which will collapse, blocking all further entrance to the room (aw, man... that's my favorite area in the game). Two Space Pirates will appear. Oh no, start running! Actually, only a few blasts from your new Plasma Beam can take these guys out. Cool. Now go back and save your game (it's the previous room). Return to the room with the water below the floor, and jump up and shoot a missle down to bust a hole in the area. Run to the far left of this area and start charging right. The Speed Booster will activate, and you'll charge through a bunch of blocks. You'll grab a SUPER MISSLE TANK (14) at the end. Now this next part is THE hardest puzzle in the game. Seriously. But the reward is an energy tank. Be warned this can take a while. Run all the way to the left again, then turn around and start running right. When the Speed Booster activates, press down and then jump up to the ledge on your left (the Screw Attack will break through the block). Run forward a little and stop in front of the small hill. Charge forward and once you get up the hill, press down. Now Space Jump up to the ledge on your right and charge up the small hill there. Press down once more, then go up to the left ledge (you have to Space Jump), and repeat. Now jump to the ledge on your right. Charge up the first hill, press down, and then charge through the door. In the next room, press down and Screw Attack through the blocks, then drop to the ledge on your left. Charge up the hill and IMMIDIATELY press down, because you'll fly straight into a wall otherwise. Now jump down to the ledge on your right and charge through the wall. You'll fly through a ton of walls and straight into an ENERGY TANK (10). Whew, now was that not hard? Took me over an hour the first time. Now get against the right wall and run left. Just before you hit the wall, the Speed Booster will activate, so quickly press down. Jump up and charge through the wall and back into the vertical room. Here, Space Jump up to the ledge on your left. Jump up and fire a missle at the top block, then roll through. Collect the MISSLE TANK (225) that's here, then return to the vertical room. Drop all the way down to the bottom, killing the Space Pirates, and then Screw Attack through the blocks. In the next room, use a Screw Attack on the floor and you'll fall into the lava, which you can now withstand thanks to the Gravity Suit. Now head right, roll through the tunnel, then go through a second tunnel and then out of the lava completely; grab the SUPER MISSLE TANK (16) and then head back left. Go to the left of the lava, then Space Jump over the tall pillar and continue left. Drop down all the way to the bottom of the next room and head left again. Go left some more and then you'll fall through the floor. Defeat the Space Pirate and enter the first room on the right. Bomb the blocks and then shoot the lower part of the left wall. A super missle tank will appear. Shoot a missle at the block in front of it and collect the SUPER MISSLE TANK (18). Now head into the room on your left. Bomb the cracked block and then continue left, destroying all the blocks and Space Pirates that get in your eeeeeeway. The next room has a lot of pirates, so destroy them all and then Space Jump up to the room on your left. Drop down all the way to the bottom of this room and take out all the pirates that try to fight you before you continue right. You have to destroy two pirates in the next room before the gate will open. The next room is a Save Room. After you save and recharge, head into the next room. It's empty, so continue forward. Bomb the blocks and defeat the pirate in this next area and then continue. This is the entrance of the Chozo Ruins. Ignore the pirate and Space Jump up to the door on the right. Head through to reach the main part of the Mother Ship again. Go right through this room and you'll be back in that glass tube outside. Head straight through and defeat the pirate that confronts you in this long vertical room. Space Jump up to the very top, and then bomb the blocks and continue. Roll through the passage on your left at the end. There's a pirate here trying to surprise you, but you should be able to see it. Kill it, and then continue to the next room. There's a new type of pirate here, it's an armored Space Pirate. It's stronger and it takes a lot more shots to defeat. Also, missles don't affect it, so you have to stick to regular beam shots. Pirates might try to follow you from the previous room, so be ready ot fight them as well. Once they're gone, head into the next room. This is that one room with all the traps, but they're now empty. Space Jump across to the other side of the room, where you should head through the door. You're back in a Save Room, so save and recharge. Head through the next room, bombing the walls in your way. In the vertical room, you'll want to head upward, blasting the breakable blocks with missles/beam shots/bombs. When you get to a part with a red door and a blue door, jump up through the breakable block in the ceiling and then bomb the robot in front of you. Follow it left, then jump up and head right and grab the SUPER MISSLE TANK (20). Use a missle on the red door and head through. In this next area, head up the room and then open the door with a super missle. Here, bomb the cracked area and then you'll fall through the floor. Defeat all the pirates here, and then go back up. Bomb the middle block and grab the SUPER MISSLE TANK (22) that appears. The yellow door can only be opened with a power bomb, so backtrack to the vertical room. Here, head through the blue door on the right. In this next room, defeat the armored pirate, and then jump up, go right, and down all the way. Roll through the tunnel and head into the next room. This is a Save Room. After saving and recharging, head back out. Jump up and head through the red door that you passed. Jump up using the Space Jump and roll through the tunnel here. There are two armored enemies in here, so instead of trying to fight them, just go left into the next room. Drop down here and then proceed to make your way around the walls by using the platforms. Eventually, you'll spot a second yellow robot. Shoot it and once it's passed, continue down, left, and up into the next room. Dro pdwon this next vertical room, defeating the pirates, and pass the yellow door. Head through the room on your left. Roll through the next room (you have to go through a lot of bombable blocks). Jump up through this vetical room, defeating the pirates, and head into the next area. Here, run all the way to the right, past the breakable block, and you'll fall through the floor. Go up and down through the passages in the next room. In the next area, the layout changes quite a bit. Head left all the way and you'll fall into a secreat passage. Head all the way down and you'll spot a pirate taking the Power Bomb Tank away in the next room. Drop through the floor and follow the pirate. In the next room, you'll spot the tank on a pillar protected by two security lasers. Trip the lasers and grab the POWER BOMB TANK. Set with R+B in Morph Ball Form. Opens yellow hatches. ~~~POWER BOMBS ACCQUIRED!~~~ Defeat all the pirates that appear. Once they're gone, lay a power bomb down to blow open the yellow door. Here, lay your second power bomb down to blow open the ceiling. Space Jump up to the POWER BOMB TANK (4) that's guarded by two pirates. After the pirates are gone, backtrack four rooms, until you reach the ship's front. Here, head up a few platforms and go into the room on the right. Defeat the pirates in this room and go straight into the Save Room here. Okay, six rooms ahead is the final boss, but with the new items gotten on the Mother Ship, you can get the rest of the tanks. I'd say that you're ready to face the final boss if you've been following the walkthrough, but if you want all the items, then follow the next part. Okay, exit the Save Room and then backtrack all the way to that clear tube that you pass through before you enter the Chozo Ruins. Lay a power bomb in the glass area to shatter the tube. Drop down and defeat the pirates, then head right and drop off the ledge. Use a power bomb to destroy some blocks and head into the hidden area. Here, use the Space Jump to head up to the top of this vertical room. There's a POWER BOMB TANK (6) there. Now drop down and head back to the area with the glass tube. Jump up to the ledge, and head left and drop off. Lay a power bomb here to reveal a new area. Head through and drop down all the ledges until you reach the bottom. Head into the room on the right, which is a Save Room. After you save and recharge, go to the vertical room and head through the door on your right. Head up, defeating the slugs (be careful, their eyes pop out when you destroy them, and the eyes damage you), and into the next area. Drop down and head through the door here. Stand in the very center of this room and shoot the ceiling. Jump up into a hidden path. Go left up the ledges, then up and right until you can't go any further. Bomb the left part of this area and grab the SUPER MISSLE TANK (26). In the next room, lay a power bomb and then jump up and go about halfway through this maze. Lay another power bomb to blow the second half of the maze open. Make your way through the right part and you'll find a second SUPER MISSLE TANK (28). Now return to the long room with the slugs. Destroy all the slugs and then head to the left part. Start running right, and shoot the door open as you go. In the next room, the Speed Booster should activate. Press down and stand in the middle of the room, then shoot up. You should fly through a bunch of walls and into an ENERGY TANK (11). When you land, head through the door on your right. Drop down here and into the next roomm. Go forward, saving and recharging at the Save Room, and then use the Space Jump to reach the top of the large room when you get there. When you get to the room with all the blocks and the gate, don't drop down through the blocks, but defeat the pirates and head through the second door on your left when the gate opens. In the vertical room with the eyes, use a power bomb to clear the blocks at the top and head through. Three rooms later, rush through the left wall to get to the second part of the room (don't go through the tunnel at the top; that just leads you back to the previous room). When you get to a path where you drop through the floor, then jump up some platforms, head through the left door. Save your game and then go through the right door. Now just continue right for a while until you reach a vertical room (the biggest one in Chozoida). Blow through the blocks with a power bomb, then use the Space Jump to go up a little more. Use a power bomb to blow through the blocks blocking a tunnel on the left, then roll through the tunnel. In this room, make your way left out of the tunnel, then jump up to the third tunnel and roll all the way right. Defeat the Space Pirate and then shoot the middle block with a missle. Jump up and collect the POWER BOMB TANK (8) that's there. Now backtrack all the way to the Map Room. You're now near the beginning of the Mother Ship. Go through the red door here, instead of going the way you first came. Defeat all the pirates in the next room and then look at the ceiling. You should notice a cracked block. Shoot at it to reveal a tank. Then use a missle to break the block in front, and jump up and grab the SUPER MISSLE TANK (24). Use a super missle on the door to break through. You're now back out of the Mother Ship. Head right, into the next area. Here, roll under the tunnel and then jump up onto the right ledge. Now jump up onto the left ledge that's on the Mother Ship. Lay a power bomb here and it'll blow open a block, revealing a POWER BOMB TANK (10). Now backtrack to the area where you got the Super Missle Tank that made your count hit 28 (it was in a maze). Here, head left all the way, up, and then make your way to the door on the left, which you should head through. Now go left through the next room to get to Crateria. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Crateria | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ Well, we're finally out of Chozoida! Back in Crateria, go left all the way and blow open the door with a Power Bomb. In this room, Space Jump up, sticking to the right wall. In the next area, get through the wall with the Screw Attack. Space Jump up to the right wall and into the mouth of the eagle. Use a power bomb on the door and go right through the next room and enter Chozoida. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Chozoida | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ We're not here for long, so don't worry. Head right all the way and then drop down to the bottom. Run up to the left wall and shoot diagonally left with a missle to reveal a hole. Roll through and bomb the block to reveal a POWER BOMB TANK (12). Now jump back up and run left, shooting as you run to open the door. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Crateria | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ In this area, rush forward and shoot open the door at the end. As soon as you enter the eagle's mouth, press down and then drop to a lower ledge, below the eagle. Get into a ball and fly toward the left with the Speed Booster and you'll go straight to a MISSLE TANK (230). Now head back to Chozoida. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Chozoida | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ We're here for two seconds. Head to the back of this horizontal room and run left agian, into the Crateria area. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Crateria | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ Back here, continue to run left until the Speed Booster kicks in. Rush into the eagle mouth and press down again. Space jump out left a little then up to the ledge above the eagle. As soon as you land, charge to the right. You'll break the blocks and fly into a SUPER MISSLE TANK (30). Now Space Jump all the way to the left across this huge room, and enter the eagle statue on the left side. In this next area, you'll want to Space Jump over the gap and into the next room. Head through this room and then in the next area, head left and drop all the way down. Head left into the next room. Proceed through the next room. When you get to the area with the elevator, head right and use a power bomb to destroy the small bump. Now continue all the way right and start charging left all the way. Shoot through the door and head into the next room. Continue to charge, shooting so that you will open the door. When to get to the outside area, quickly press down and jump to the edge of the ledge on your left. Charge diagonally up (A+Up and Left) and you'll charge through blocks. Roll through here and then grab the POWER BOMB TANK (14). Return to the room with the elevator and take it down to Norfair. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Norfair | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ When you get here, drop down and enter the first room on your right. Go right all the way to the Save Room. After saving your game, continue into the large lava room. Here, get to the wide stretch without any bumps and charge right, through the door. THe Speed Booster should activate and you'll fall through the floor. Drop down and enter the next room, then head all the way left. Charge right, into the vertical room, and you should fall through the floor. Drop down and enter the first room on your left. Now go left all the way to the end of the map, where you're in a vertical room. Drop down to the very bottom (that includes dropping through the lava) Lay a power bomb to find out which block on the floor you need to shoot a missle through. Shoot the missles and drop down to the bottom. Head through the door on your left. Jump up the ledges here and go right to find a tank. Roll up to the right side, and bomb the floor. After you do that, quickly unroll and shoot a missle up at the barrier blocking the tank. Then jump up and grab the MISSLE TANK (235). Now drop down to the left ledge and shoot three missles through the wall. Head through the tunnel and then use the Space Jump to get to the very top of this area, where a POWER BOMB TANK (16) rests. Now exit this area and head back to the vertical room. Go up and enter the first room you see on the right. From there, go right all the way, past the Save Room, and stop when you get to the vertical room on the right side of the map. Drop down to the bottom, and head left three rooms. Drop down and go right, and take the elevator down to Ridely. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Ridely | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ I'm assuming you took the elevator, and not the hidden path. Drop down to the bottom and head left. Shoot a missle at the left part of the ceiling to reveal access to the next room. Power bomb the area to clear a path. Make your way through this room and go through the door on the right when you get there. In this vertical room, drop down all the way to the bottom. Head left, past the save room, into the next large, horizontal area. Here, go into the upper fenced area. Remember when we did this stuff? Charge right, hold down, and go into the Save Room. Rush down past the save point and shoot the door open, then charge (using the Speed Booster) up the small hill. In the vertical room, quickly jump up three ledges and charge to the right, into the next room. Start running and head through the door into the next room. Continue running to the right. When the Booster kicks in, get into ball form and quickly roll under the structure. Get up and charge upward. Bomb the black pipes to blow up the whole thing. Now, if you tried to hop down, you'll fall through the floor. Space Jump your way under the lone pipe and then up and down once more to collect a MISSLE TANK (240). Okay, I'm going to assume that you've been through every area enough to know where to go. Besides, the map is always there. So I'm just telling you to head to Norfair, and from there go to Brinstar, and from there go to Kraid. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Kraid | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ Drop down and enter the second room on the left. Here, destroy the cracked blocks and head forward until you see an acid pool with a bunch of cracked blocks. Head down and break all the blocks, then when you get to the bottom start running. When the Speed Booster kicks in, press down and go to the bottom of the hill. Charge right, and you'll go up and down the hill and break through all the blocks, and fly right into a MISSLE TANK (245). From here, return to Brinstar and then go to Tourian. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Tourian | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ At the start, drop down to the bottom of the room and head left, through the Save Room. Drop down and go right, then drop all the way down to the bottom. In the next room, continue left. In the big room, jump across to the other side. Here, go right into a Save Room. After you save, return to the previous room. Bomb the floor and drop down to the bottom. Head into the next room and head all the way down. Continue left, until you get to the next Save Room. Save and head into the room after that. Here, start running left and continue to run left even after the Speed Booster kicks in. Right before you get to the end of the room, press down. Rush into the next room. Here, jump up to the ceiling (you may have to do a Space Jump). Straighten out and then charge left (still near the ceiling). You'll charge through a couple of rooms into a hidden area. Shoot at the ground to reveal final MISSLE TANK (250). Now head back to the room with the green water (that can damage you, by the way). From where you are in the room, lay a power bomb. It'll reveal a block that can only be broken by a super missle. Break the block and drop into a hidden room. Collect the final POWER BOMB TANK (18) here. Okay, from here, you need to head back to Chozodia and the start of the Mother Ship. +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ | Chozoida | +====---------------------------------------------------------------------====+ From the start of the Mother Ship, make your way up to the Save Room that is near the place where the power bombs were (it's the top Save Room). After saving and recharging, go two rooms left to the front of the ship. Jump up to the ledge in front of you and lay regular bombs to blow a hole in the ceiling. Head up and into the right room. Lay a power bomb here to blow a hole, then roll through the tunnel. Blow through the two blocks at the end. Now if you're ready to get the final energy tank (which is EXTREMELY hard to get, by the way), the do the following steps. Otherwise, continue forward to fight the final boss. Okay, in the horizontal room you're in, run to the far end of it, then turn around. Start running left. When the Speed Booster kicks in, keep running. Jump when you get to the bump and you'll fall through the floor. Now, the energy tank is there on the other side. However, it's guarded by the toughest security system on the Mother Ship. Trip a laser and a gate closes down on the tank. This is how you get it: after you break through the floor, go back to the right side and start running agian. Press down when the Speed Booster starts up and then drop into the pit. You should see a green security laser below you. Drop down and charge to the right JUST before you touch the security laser. You should charge into the tank without tripping any of the lasers. Okay, that's it, you have every item in the game! Once you have the tank, continue into the next room. Bomb the wall and go through, but just drop through the floor. When you reach the bottom, bomb the right wall. Blast open the door with a missle and enter to face... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FINAL BOSS: Meta-Ridely ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Difficulty: Moderate Requirements: Missles (Super recommneded) Again, my favorite boss character... and we get to fight it twice in this game. At the start, the room will appear to be empty. Wait a few seconds and Meta- Ridley will appraoch you. The reason this difficulty is "moderate" is because Meta-Ridely has almost no HP, but the attacks can be annoying. Meta-Ridley has four attacks. The first is a simple claw swipe; Ridely will raise its claw and swipe down. If you jump, you can avoid it. The second attack is a green laser shot. It'll fire either up, middle, or down. It's random each time, but doesn't do that much damage. The third attack involves Meta-Ridly spitting a bunch of fireballs at you. These don't deal that much damage, but you can simply jump over them if you wish. Finally, Ridely will shoot three missles at you. These are VERY easy to avoid, and jumping or a Screw Attack will allow you to dodge them. To damage Meta- Ridely, you should have a good amount of super missles. The red circle on Ridely is its weak point. Shoot a super missle at it, and then Ridely will put his face in front of the circle, stopping you from damaging it. When it raises its head, let fly with another super missle. Just repeat this strategy a few more times and Meta-Ridely will be history. ******************************************************************************* How come whenever you beat the final boss of a Metroid game, a self-destruct mechanism triggers AUTOMATICALLY? Ah well. You four minutes to escape the station, which is a good amount of time. The yellow ship is your destination (look on the map). There are pretty much no enemies you have to deal with, except for two armored Space Pirates at the end. Usually, the obvious path is blocked. Placing power bombs can often reveal the path you have to take, so place the bombs whenever you're stuck. Once the enemies near the ship are gone, head forward and escape with the Battleship. Congragulations! You just beat Metroid: Zero Mission! Now play it on a harder difficulty! ===================--------------------====================------------------- | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | | |%%%%% Upgrades %%%%%| UG01 | | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | -------------------====================--------------------=================== Morph Ball - found near the beginning of the game.
